Hi,

My Ulysse was recently in for some work, and when it came back, the dealer had upgraded the onboard telematics software from 5.3 to 5.31. Has anyone got any idea what the difference between the two releases is?

Ever curious about such things.....

John

Hi,

It has improved in performance by 0.01.

Only joking, apparently it is quite a big change as you could upgrade previous version yourself, but with 5.31 they have to be done by the garage or you could mess up the computer. In terms of user options I don't think it makes a difference.

Fair enough - thanks. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for any behavioural changes in the car over the next few journeys!

Hi Guys

Latest version of the software seems to 5.4. This version is required if you want the multimedia sockets in the glovebox activated also changes the voice of the GPS to an ever so English voice but not the road names as they come from the Navtech Disk.

Regards

Ron.

Hi,

Have you had yours updated to the new version Ron. Stuart will be pleased that he can get the glove box inputs to work. Wish I had gone for the upgrade now, if I had known you could use it as a monitor.

Any other changes worth having on the 5.4 version.

Hi,

Excellent news - I have to try and get down the dealer this Saturday morning [still got to sort socket/rear lights etc...] - will definitely mention this upgrade to them and see what the response is!!!!

I know what you mean about the upgrade, Poggy - I wish I had gone for the electric pack now, seeing that I had already paid for pivoting seats as an option. If only they got their act together on the options list.

Stuart

Hi Poggy

Downloaded an image of the disk and burnt a copy then you just pop in the disk and it automaticaly updates the system, takes about 10 minutes with no adverse side effects. You can now have the GPS maps full screen and some icons have changed but apart from that it looks pretty much the same.
If you want to download the image you can get it at:

Hi,

Thanks, no risk of messing up the system if I put it in.

Don't suppose it mutes the audio when you do voice recongition now.

Talking of options, I got a new brochure from Fiat for some reason and they have changed some options. The 16" alloys and pressure sensors are now not available in the petrol versions. Looks like I got in just in time.

Hi,

I wonder if the UK Fiat dealerships will use this version! I thought they may query the use of a screen whilst driving, unless this is deactivated whilst the engine is running. Anyone know when this version was released - it seems strange that John only got a version 5.31 upgrade.....

Stuart

Cheers Ron downloading update now, a couple of questions do you have to have the engine running when installing it and does it default to English when installed or do you have to set it. Always a bit nervous when updating software lol. Also was their a screen prompt when the software had finished installing

Hi,

There are specific instructions in one of the posts on the website:

http://www.eurovan2.com/modules/vbulletin/upload/showthread.php?t=596

Let us know how you get on, do you have Connect +

Poggy

Have got just the connect nav but wish that I had spent the money on the upgrade. I have upgraded it seems to be a big improvement over the previous version I have not found all the new bits yet but did notice that you have a new icon of a radio in the main menu also when you add a recording in the phone book it give you a vocal prompt and tells you if it has recorded correctly. One thing I did notice that seemed strange was when you pull up the what can I say list I had 2 navigators and 2 stops but guess that it won’t harm the system. There is a lot more interactive function that you can control with your voice like zooming in and out of the map screens and the use of yes and no for answering the phone. One thing tried to burn first with Ahead Nero but it did not work you have to use Alcohol 120% trial version.

Hi,

Just downloaded this and instaleld it in my car. Follow the instructions that Poggy has given a link to above and it should all go smoothly (it seemed to for me). The whole process takes slightly over 5 minutes - do NOTHING to the car until it spits the CD out.

From an initial play, I like the clearer text on the display and the slightly less obvious labels on the map, along with the new icons!

I'll be taking the car for a long drive tomorrow (with work), so will probably have more observations after that!

Thanks to Ron and Poggy for the relevant links!

BTW - Ron - how do you get the maps full-screen now?

Watch this space!

John

BTW - on the instructions page (from Poggy above), it says you have to activate the A/V connectors via Diag2000!

Also, the link to download the PDF of vce commands is broken - did anyone manage to get a copy downloaded?

John

Hi,

Just went out for a quick spin (kids taxi time again) and so I had a play with the new software. Firstly, the map zooms are more granular - theres a 50yrd and 150 yrd zoom, and 150yrd in full screen mode (press the main button when in map mode and select full screen) is brilliant!

Well worth doing!

John

Hi,

I too noted about this Diag2000 thing on the A/V upgrade. I have printed off both lots of instructions, and intend to see my dealer in the morning - odds on that they have no idea about the 5.40 version, let alone the latest version of Diag2000......
