Hi,
Just came back from a 4 week drive around Mercia Spain. my van has now done 15k. all went well till,,,,,,Driving of the ferry i had a yellow triangle flash on then off on my dash. also when i turned on the ignition the oil level showed v low, one light out of 6. went under the bonnet and used the analog version (dip stick) oil level spot on. Plugged in my ODBC reader and one fault oil level sensor stored.
2018 ducato 2.3 130hp

1 where the hell is it?
2 is it fairly easy to change?

Thanks
Billy

I expect someone will tell you exactly, but on VW / Audi it was a unit bolted into the bottom of the sump with a wiring plug, it involved draining the oil to access it. A new one should come with a new rubber seal

The level sensor is hard to get at. It is located just above the sump on the rear of the engine tucked behind the DPF. I am not sure that it is accessible without a fair bit of dismantling from below. I believe it is the item circled in red in the first photo close to the alternator. The second photo shows the DPF in place and I think it may have to be removed to get at the sensor. My 2017motorhome was subject to aa recall for a bit of pipework which attached to the engine exhaust and DPF. That necessitated the removal of the subframe and DPF to get at it - 3 hour job at main agent on a ramp with engine support.

Hi Billy

I'm just wondering if the Ferry had a steep downward ramp which would have made the oil go to the front of the sump, leaving the sensor "high and dry" and fooling it into "thinking" there was a low level. I suggest you see how things go for a while on normal roads before pulling anything to pieces.

Maybe delete the error code and see if it returns, whilst keeping an eye on things in general.
