Hi everyone

I’m after some advice regarding engine oil because ECP have 50% off,

I put my reg into Euro Car Parts and As you no a list of oils popped up,
One I was looking at is TRIPLE QX Fully Synthetic (For PD engines) Engine Oil - 5W-40 - 5ltr

Specifications: ACEA C3, API SN/CF, BMW Longlife-04, GM dexos 2, MB 229.51, Porsche A40, VW 505.00/505.01

My last oil change I used (this oil doesn’t appear when I put my reg in, reason I used this was because I read the oil for a 1.2 8v is suppose to be fiat 9.55535-M2 specification so I used this one. TRIPLE QX Fully Synthetic Engine Oil - 5W-40 - 5ltr,

Specifictions: ACEA A3/B4, API SN/CF, BMW Longlife-01, Fiat 9.55535-M2, GM LL-B-025, MB 229.3/226.5, PIorsche A40, Renault RN0700/RN0710, VW 502.00/505.00

Is this the correct oil or am I using the wrong stuff?

What engine..and year?
Sorry, I should of said, 1.2 8v 2006, I think that triple QX PD oil is The wrong Stuff for this engine, (could be wrong)

Also been looking at shell, but the Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 states Fiat 9.55535-Z2 ( is that the wrong oil?)

Or
Shell Helix HX8 ECT 5W-40 Specifications Fiat 9.55535-N2 and 9.55535-M2

And

Castrol Magnatec (C3) Engine Oil - 5W-40 Specification Meets Fiat 9.55535-S2

Both oils will work in the FIRE family engines.

But in theory "new" cars (about after year 2009-2011 or so) need "Cx" (ACEA) oils, because of emissions (Euro5).
Older cars "Ax/Bx" (ACEA). Because Euro4 standard.

ACEA "Cx" is easier on catalytic converters, better cleaning properties, but slightly spoiled lubrication properties.
ACEA "Ax/Bx" is little more "dirty", but lubricates a bit better. That's the oil for your car (2006 year).

FIAT oil specs, Google that yourself, example: https://www.oilspecifications.org/fiat.php

Oil threads are always a bit awkward..

But some great advice there from 'pl' :)

ECP have a 'perma-sale'

Its still worth looking around for a good brand of oil elsewhere..

VW spec Castrol oil is cheapest on Amazon.. as an example.. even after others have 'discounted'

There is a perpetual argument with older vehicles...
if its the correct grade.
is £30 more expensive oil.. twice a year.. really worthwhile...

My old diesel grandes got the QX
Mainly because it was 5 litres..
Thats 2 changes :)

The others were 4litres.. so I would either buy another 4l.. or pay £10 for a 1 litre pot.. pointless.

Thanks guys for explaining, One of the reasons I used triple QX 5-40w is because I have a Vectra c that uses 5.5 litres and I had 4.5 litres left, and i noticed the specification says Fiat 9.55535-M2 so was a no brainier,

Great info guys ?
