Now something is wrong withh the f***ing lock!

Ok,getting a little pissed off with my car,this evening ,after i finally got rid of the injector problem( i hope),the central locking mechanism seems to be failing,first it went stiff,then it stopeed all together and wouldnt work for several minutes.It worked again later on,anyone else had similar problems?Its a 96 brava S

Same problem

I had the same problem with mine a while back after having an alarm fitted. It was a flat battery...maybe your central locking has a bad earth somewhere. Is anything else electric not working properly?

Central Locking

I think I read in the manual somewhere that the central locking can shut itself down for some time if it detects a problem and will then reactivate when the problem clears. My central locking was misbehaving about 2 years ago and would unlock and then lock itself several times in succession when the key was turned and then just go dead for a while before it would respond again. I sprayed a large dose of WD40 inside and all around the lock and it has been fine since.

I am so glad that I am not the only one with this problem. This happens every 4 months or so on mine when using the drivers side door only I too find that a healthy amount of WD40 in the lock puts things right for a while.
