Just looking at a punto, which states it has a noisy thrust bearing, is this something to do with the clutch?

Is it expensive to fix?

Cheers

Just discussing with my Dad who feels it maybe just a new thrust bearing not full clutch if its not slipping?

Not bought it yet, just discussing cost etc, so not got gearbox off

Clutch bearing is a gearbox off job.

If the bearing is noisy...its probably not that bad. You could probably run it with few problems till the full clutch system wears out. Then youde replace the lot as its sensible to whilst the box is off.

Bearing on its own is about £15 and the kit is around £30-50

Dont think that is wise IMO as while you have the gearbox out it would be silly NOT replacing the whole clutch assembly :) wouldnt want to pay the labour charge TWICE :) (y)and if you dont get the bearing sorted they have a habbit of going just when you dont want them to.
