Technical noisy ehaust since changing backbox...

Hi everyone , my newest problem is ever since i changed the mid section and backbox on my stilo 1.6 02 plate . It seems very noisy wnenever i accelerate in 1st or 2nd gear , and goes a bit quieter in 3rd , and normal in 4th / 5th . I was thinking maybe it is because the backbox hasn't been run in yet (although ive done around 1000 miles since changing it) Is the noise normal or do i have a problem again ? :bang: please help!!! :worship:

This is completly normal, I take it was a brand new one and not used.

Think of the backbox as a room with nothing in it, the room would echo if you shouted in it. The backbox is the same when it is new it is clean and empty inside and because of this it echo's and creates that noise. You just need to keep using your car and wait till the exhuast fills up with crap again from the engine and it will be quiet again.

It can take up to a month before its the same as the old one, if it takes longer than that take it to a garage and they can try and shake up the exhaust to fill it up.

p.s i have a brand new exhuast system so i feel your pain with the noise it makes lol

No problem i thought the exact same thing when I changed mine over.

Ive had it about 3 weeks now and its still noisy but has quieted down alot.
