Hi again, have to change an injector in above car...any tips and possible issues? Advice appreciated as ever.
Depends on the reason for changing/removing the injector.
Basically if you know for a fact that individual injector is faulty due to a leak off test or similar and there are no black oily deposits around where it goes into the cylinder head, then release the wiring clip, bleed off pipes, undo high pressure pipe to injector and injector clamp down bolt or nut arrangement, then wriggle the injector and if lucky it will start to move, carefully ease the high pressure pipe union back a fraction as you turn and wriggle the injector out.
Do not bend the pipe out of the way!!!
If the injector doesn't come out or in the case of where it has been leaking past it's seal in the cylinder head causing a black oily deposit then the plot thickens.
You may be able to loosen the black deposit stopping it from coming out, but in a lot of cases it can involve a special tool to extract it.
These are readily available on eBay etc. but usually involve removing the top nut on the injector to fit the extractor.
If you are fitting a new injector this shouldn't be a problem but if reusing the old one, it often is the case that damage can be caused to the injector and valve mechanism resulting in a specialist rebuild of it.
Once injector is out it is good practice to check the seating area in the cylinder head is in good condition and fit a new copper washer to the injector before replacing in reverse order and correctly torquing clamp etc.
Due to the high pressure common rail system if all is good it should "self bleed " and engine start then settle down fine.

Thank you...that's exactly what I needed. New injector will be here end if the week, hopefully fitted the following one. Will update with results! Cheers Adam
