okay so im 17, booking my test this month and ive had my 1.2 w-reg punto sat on my drive for 6 month :/
been looking around at insurance quotes and im looking at around £450+ a month .
i wanna start up my own no claims so dont really wanna go on my dads insurance. does anyone know of any good insurance companies for new young drivers please?
..
even if i was to get insured on my dads insurance it still comes out at around £350 a month.. doesnt seem to be goin down and hes got 8 years NCB. anyone know of any companies that i could go on with him, most of them just wont even give me a quote due to my age.
Thanks in advance :)

Where do you live Iraq?
Most places will charge you a good 2k a year. It will end up cheaper if you could get your dad to front you the money and pay all at once. Then pay him back monthly. Thats what i do.

Tried confused, money super meerkat and all that?

all the comparison sites give me like £750 a month :/
might give quinn a call tomorrow.
looks like the best way to go.
if i can get it to around £200 a month id be happy.
any other companies though just incase they try to rip me off too? lol
and i live in middleton.. pretty **** area but in a nice house.. means nothin to insurance companies though they just care about the post code :/

My first year as a 17 year old with Passplus was £1750, without passplus it was £2500 so the £160 or whatever for the extra 6 hours of driving was worth every penny. If you got it make sure the insurance company takes it into account! Im coming up to my 2nd renewal and the Passplus doesnt seem to drop it at-all any more though im getting quotes for £860 now :)

Admiral do seem to be the best at the moment, Im currently with Endsleigh but they put me on a special young drivers one where you cant change/add anything (apart from the car itself) without loosing the NC you had built up that year. So ill be making sure i have a policy which you can change/declare modifications.

Best quote ive had so far is £3407 from i-Kube.
Quinn quoted me at £6000.
Esure wont insure me.
I think its because when they type my cars reg into the system, it comes up as being worth £1000.
Think im just gonna have to go with i-Kube.
£319 a month x9
£807 deposit.
Its ridiculous the price but im left with no other options :/

Go with co-op mate, im in the exact same position as you, and my quote was £1266 on co-op. put your dad as the main driver, for year or 2, and named drivers build up there own NCD with co-op, oh and they said to me they would cover any alloys, aslong as they are standard size...

Oh and never go with Quinn, i work for a home insurance company, and we get this magazine through, they got ceased from trading, by the FSA (Financial Services Authority), and have only just been allowed back in, They may be the cheapest, but i would definately be worth the extra money you have to pay..

Good Luck Mate! :) (y)

thats fronting if your going to drive it more than him, and illegal!

very true, fronting will get you in big trouble if you have an accident, whether it's your fault or not. I'm 19, only started driving 6 months ago and my insurance is with i-kube. I paid £2100 on my 53' punto this year, and thats the absolute best price I could find. Only trouble is, I'm not allowed to drive 11pm-5am or they'll fine me £60 every night I do it. One of the downsides of having a tracker fitted to your vehicle...

Ill have to give Co-op a try.
This is what ive got so far:
iKube – phone £3407
Direct line.
Quinn. – phone £6000
Admiral.
Elephant.
Esure. – cant quote
Co-op.
Quotelinedirect.
Adrian flux

Gonna ring them all up and see what prices they give me.
Anyone else i should ring?
Thanks for the help as well people :D

Maybe think of going to a lower engine spec for a year or two, 1.0 instead of a 1.2 quote for it, im sure your premium will be about £1000 less maybe?

After gaining NCB then get a nicer car with the money you will have saved etc?

Add your parents as named drivers that normally lowers it as well.

Reason for the 11-6am rule is that most crashes for the younger age group occur at that time

i just bought my car insurance today, google bewise car insurance, they are an independant insurance brokerage, the are underwritten by Aviva, and they quoted £2250 all mods declared, thats lowered, window tints (front and back) alloys, de badged, tinted lights and any I.C.E i want, aslong as i declare how much it is worth to them, and provide them with proof of purchase.

:) let them quote you £6000 then ring them up and telll them you have got it for £1500 thats when they phoned me back 30 minutes later saying that they have lowered it to £2000, i declared mods, and it rose too £2250..

Worth a try mate!
oh and that fully comp :)

Oh i drive a Mk2 1.2 punto! :) just to let you knoww

Good luck mate
