General New Ulysse Connect Nav +

General New Ulysse Connect Nav +

I did it with the seats in the wallet position (first time I've heard it called that). Middle seats are in the middle of their adjustment position - Centre middle seat forward about another inch or two (as it has a fatter back because of the integral 3-point seat-belt). Rear seats then pulled back as far as they'll come, then folded up. You can just get the cover into it's slots like this.

Ah, that is how you do it! I must admit, the luggage cover has not even been used yet - still stuck in the hall way.

The problem is, the car is used by missus as a school shuttle - therefore, got a twin 3 wheeler push in the car, another small stroller just in case, one large car seat and two booster seats! That is why we got an MPV! Nightmare....Cover that? No chance.

I got the cover for mine and do use it quite a bit. When it first arrived we couldnt figure out how to latch it at the back. Until we realised that you still need the original cover as well. - der!

Also its a pain to store. If I take it out and fold up the seats to use them, there's no room to store it. Its too long to fit behind the rear reat row, so it ends up on the foot well floor. getting stepped on. - so its in the hall now!

Well this is going to be one of those things that will vary by user, but I use my car for business, and need to transport expensive computer kit in the back from time to time. I don't like doing this when the contents of the rear row are on show, so my cover gets used for that (now I have it - 3 months wait before it arrived).

For the most part my car is set as a 5-seat vehicle, with the rear 2 folded (upright), and the cover in place, to give me something remotely resembling a boot, but with the option to flip to 7 seats without having to pull the extra ones out of storage!

Hi,

I got mine because once the kids grow up a bit and don't need pushchairs and all that [and my wife doesn't have to carry another 3 childminded kids around], then we will prob do what John does. Makes total sense!!!

Hi everyone - from another new (1 week old) Ulysse owner.

Previously driving a Zafira, before that had lots of Fiats
until they closed the local dealer down. Ulysse is a lot of
fun to drive after the Zafira.

However have a couple of questions, and maybe you guys have more
information than my dealer . . . (hope this is the right place
to post).

1. I get the "(4) tyre pressure sensors missing" message. I saw
some posts and an article elsewhere which indicated this was
a bug in the telematics software. Can you confirm, and if so,
which version has the bug? I have version 5.40, which seems to
be the latest.

2. I have a 2.0 JTD (would've preferred the 2.2, but . . . ).
I expect the dashboard light for the diesel pre-heater to come
on (manual says for less than a second) when I turn the key,
but . . . nothing. Starts okay, though (at present).
I take it everybody else's light comes on?

3. I also have the troublesome "emergency calls deactivated"
message. Dealer told me there was no free year's subscription;
however my "connect activation code" (?) appears to have been
programmed okay by the dealer. I don't have NAV+, only NAV;
can anyone confirm that the free subscription applies to NAV
as well as NAV+ (actually I don't care too much about missing
out on the service, roads are not that bad in this area, its
the start-up message that bugs me).

Thanks a lot!

Robert

Welcome Robert,

1: I had this message for a while. It took some form of reset or configuration change by the dealer to solve it. - not sure what version I'm on now.

2: I assume that the light comes on when its cold. I've not really noticed it to be honest (I've done 23K miles now), so either it's not working or it does its job without a fuss!

3: I have the standard Nav, and I got the 12 mnths free (from the time of activation, not the date of purchase). You should get this set up and the message goes away. There are posts elsewhere in teh forum about the process, but you need to call up a number in holland with your sim card in place and with a number the dealer should give you on a piece of paper (its your engine number I think), they then call you back and its set up.

I hope your dealer knows what he's doing (most dont) otherwise you may find yourself having to educate them from what you can read on this forum.

Good luck

Welcome to the Forum, Robert :)

Some sound advice their from Froggy, he beat me to it. I will just add a few other pointers.

1. Sensors - the car needs to plugged into Diag2000/Examiner system at the main dealer, who can then resolve this issue.

2. The pre-heater light on my 2.2 is on for a blink of an eye, so much so that I just turn the key now without even bothering to look i.e. not an issue, so wouldn't worry about it.

3. The dealer is wrong - free one year sub on activation date, for Nav and Nav + . Who are your local dealers? Have they sold a Ulysse before? You could always try emailing or phoning Fiat customer services, but don't hold your breath. The number for the system is basically the VIN number, but I know number of boxes on the form doesn't quite match up [?]

Hope this is a starter for you.

Hi Robert,

the "emergency calls deactivated" message can be de-activated without subscribing to the service. Apparently it should have been done during the pre-delivery inspection, another dealer corrected it for me (about 4 weeks ago, I've had the car for 12 months now!) and I no longer get this message.

So much for decent PDI - is it really worth doing.

Ordered mine with tinted windows as you know, but came as standard - how the hell did it get through PDI - the sales manager said there was tint in them, yeah right, so private you could see right through them.

Presume the "emergency calls" thing is done using Diag2000 again! All good stuff.

The level of tint on the tinted windows isn't such that you can't see in (it's to cut down on the light levels getting intro the car as opposed to a privacy thing), but you can see the difference....

The emergency calls thing can be disabled by using the Diag2000 thing - mine was done 2 days after delivery after I got pi**ed off with it!

John ;)

Yeah, I realise the standard 'dark' tint is really to stop kids in the back getting sun-burnt. Lol.

Have a look at a thread on here - in Members Motors, called My Ulysse 2.2JTD - that be my car :), you can see how dark the back is with film tint. Useful ;)

Wish I'd read this topic first...

Ive been having all the same griff for the past year + - I actually wrote the "here's your car back " letter - but then the dealer started to pull their finger out... See my post under general Fiat topic.

Any update on the AV socket issue ?
I'd also like to be able to use the IR port on the computer to load the address book from my Palm ! - Ironic really cos my Mobile Computing guys probably could do the software for this ! I came across the mobile app. competition while trying to find out about getting the Connect Nav + sorted...

(Car (2.2 JTD / letaher/ sunroofs/det towbar/ CN+ )took 10 months to get - arrived once with erong interior, loads a niggly problems. Still have leak from roof... See other posting - all checked (twice) but seems to only happenafter standing in heavy rain ??? ) Also lost the under engine cover (4ft square) at loadsa mph on the M4 around Easter.. good job no one was behind us.

Hi,

You mention the AV sockets - these were switched on after the last update, 5.4. BUT you need to get the dealer to switch it on using Diag2000/Examiner, and also take off the speed restriction :).

Quality is really good - so far, run a digicam and video through it. Haven't yet got a portable DVD, but will still run proper screens at the back though.

Thanks for that I guess I'll get it done when it's next in (which probably wont be long !)Can you find out what version you're on ? - I dont recall seeing it anywhere ?

Have they done anything about the phone at all in these updates ?
I cant stop the system keeping copies of my texts and there seems to be no selective delete - meaning I end up not being able to send a text because the list is full (sent texts) and I have to delete them all en-masse !

Is there any formal way that you can keep track of the updates - apart from this most excellent forum of course ;-))

Hi,

Version number is gleaned by keeping your finger down on either Menu or Main [not sure, not in car at mo!], this gives another menu which allows you to select the details you require. This is in a thread somewhere, but probably too far back.

No formal way as such re updates - 5.4 was issued to my dealer as an initial request from me, then it seemed to go to the other dealers in turn.

No idea about the texts, coz don't text from car phone. An option would be to take SIM out and put it in another phone, but a bit drastic. I will have a gander later at my screen.

Right, had another look.

Keep finger on Main to get up another screen. This allows you to scroll to services description, to glean the version number.

As far as texts, easy enough to delete individual ones. I can click on each text, and delete it accordingly. This may have come about on version 5.4, I can't remember that far back.

Hope this helps

Texts were there with the 5.3 software also.

I've noticed an interesting glitch in the software though in that if you delete a text message as soon as you've read it, and you chose to read it as soon as it arrived, you seem to get stuck in a loop and can't get back out to the map screen unless you press the menu screen then escape! [)]

John ;)

I have just bought a Fiat Marea 'S' reg. I am having problems with the remote keys, in that they are progressivley getting worse. I have been told that I need a four pin code to be able to buy a re-placement key. Does anyone know of a way of getting the four digit code or getting re-placement keys without one.

Many Thanks
Pete
