Hello all, new to this section making my way over from the classic panda section... Well i am picking up a 3door 1.4i.e tomorrow afternoon as it was boxy enough for my tastes and came with unheard of technology like central-locking and electric windows... ooooh the power (until it stops working)

anyway, it's suffering from the same problem that my first panda had... apart from standard bouncy wheels... The front seat is twisted (i don't know how this happens). I have sourced a DGT in the scrappies locally and i know from the posts it not a straight swap. The other thing is that the donor car is a split rear seat... i was wondering if this was a easy fit also? and even better what is the best seating available for a Mk2 Tipo from the dedra/tempra/tipo lot?

I love the look of the digital dash but i realise that the chances of this working even before trying to adapt it are minimal at best as they were pants.

last question... for the moment. I noticed that the engine is a naturally aspirated but what size engine did the DGT use?

thanks for the patience.

Cheers
Tony

Welcome to the land of Tipo. If you can find them I would go for 3 door Sedicivalvole seets (they are as rare as rocking horse poo!) or seats from another late 3 door - but I am sure someone on here will know better than me what fits as I have only ever owned 5 door cars.

The DGT model was available in 1.4 and 1.6 and I think. but might be wrong, that early 1.8 versions were also fitted with the digi dash.

Hi tony welcome to Tipo Land, As others have pointed out the sedi interior is the best choice, if you can source one the SLX interior is quite nice, Really comfortable too, also incorparates the drivers armrest....But wether they did a 3 door version im unsure....
If you do go for a split rear seat make sure you take the brackets which join the seats together, the fixing holes should be there so no worries about fitting them, The whole interior should take about 1 hr to do, But in your case maybe 2hrs.. If you are after a Digi-Dash i have a spare one in V.G.C with wiring....

thanks people (even a familiar face from NI)

there's a 5 door 16V 5 door (MK2 from the grill me thinks) just on ebay in Derby... from what you guys have said the front would be straight swap but the rear is different from the 3 door?... from the outside the geometry looks pretty close between the 3 & 5 door shapes... could i make the rear fit from a 5 door into a 3 door... or there a fundamental difference? I'm not that bothered about the door cards... as the current ones can be modified with contact adhesive and a choice of fabric.

ah well i will see tomorrow... gotta pick it up first.

pity about the front seat... i quite liked the vinyl and tartan thing.

oh and the digital dash is just plain craziness shining through :)
analog... it's the future.

if you are going to derby to see gaz say hi to him from me....
dazzo...

If i do I will... any ideas why he's breaking the car?... he seems to be selling everything from engine to cigerette lighter.... which would kind of indicate that it is working.

I was wondering if taking the suspension from a Sedi is a better option than buying lowering springs, although I don't really want to ride to become too harsh, after the punto which runs on 155/70/13 tyres... anything is going to feel planted.

TipoMike you should sort yourself out some kind of animal avatar... they're so in!

ah right... then that's probably more practical.
I will be in touch at some point after this weekend of running around.

I bet he never thort of that hellcat.....

Tony M... Gaz is breaking that sedi cos he has too many and one had to go so rather than give it away for peanuts he is breaking instead,.,,

I had actually noticed that small issue :) yesterday. I have got a seat out of a 5 door and will be having a look at how they are put together in comparison to the forward folding seats. The best solution is either finding a folding seat of the same colour ... which is very unlikely... or work out how to fix the frame on the one i have.

the 16V in manachester is dangerous, it's a whole car that needs work... there's always the temptation to do it up... and that would be disasterous for my financies. I haven't had my license for a year yet... (late starter i'm 36 now) so the insurance would probably be the same money as a full respray.

still that's what dreams are about :yum:
