General My two 'new' sedicivalvole

I purchased not one but two sedicivalvole tipo's a couple of weeks ago, I saw them on a website here in Ireland and tried to ignore them but the calling was too strong! I must be crazy as I have zero time and little money but at least they won't be broken for parts which was what the seller planned to do with them. The head said concentrate on finishing your 1.7D project but the heart said buy more tipo's! Apparently the black tipo needs a crankshaft sensor although the cambelt cover is removed so not too sure about that! The red ones got knocking in the bottom end so interesting times ahead when I get time.. bodies are solid and the interiors are rip free and in surprisingly good shape. Black car off the road since 2004 and the red one since 2001. Probably not going to be too many updates for a while as I am concentrating on building up a stash of parts.

I never spotted that! Obviously not an original fitment so, god knows what happened to the original. That car is an original irish car which was used by Grandon's ( a fiat dealer in Cork at the time ) as a demonstrator so I was told!

My 93 Sedicivalvole did, too and that was fitted from new wehn bought from FIAT.

The factory must have been using up left over bumpers at the time!

nice find(s),
beware of running the knocking one too much,:idea:
as you can only get the 2 x oversize / grinds on the crank.. MOST cranks allow 4.

had to fit a new crank in my 2.0 tempra

engineer said I was unlucky ,
coz on the VERY similar 131 / Mirafiori crank you can still get all 4 :bang:

Thanks for the advice Charlie. Sadly I don't know how much 'running' the previous owner did no updates at the moment as cash is tight, I can't even afford a new battery to compression test both engines..

Realistically I will only be able to concentrate on one of them probably the black one as documentation is present and the main engine components are sound, also it has lower mileage than the red one. I may be able to use other parts from the red one to speed up progress on the black one. I wish I was in a position to restore both but that would not be feasible.

Unfortunately I had to let these two beauties go recently as due to a combination of factors I was realistically not going to get near them for years. Outdoor storage was never going to help them either Plus I was approached by an individual who was very keen to acquire and get started on them. I will probably regret in time letting them go but such is life. As part of the deal I ended up with a 2004 punto eleganza jtd so I won't be too far away!

Hi Bluejohn.. Ah yes my diesel tipo, still have it but it seems that the rust is too terminal even for me?.. I was prepared to tackle all the rusty bits at the front but moved onto the rear and oh dear.. Seems the previous owner had a penchant for silicone sealer and most of the spare wheel well was held in by that.. Plus a very rusty rear subframe doesn't help. I have another sound shell and might put all the diesel bits in that.. I will admit that maybe the rose tinted glasses were on when I bought the diesel tipo.. Have a brava jtd and punto jtd so enough to be playing around with.
