Hi All,
I have just bought a sony CDX-M630 and it works like a deam but when the car has been turned off for >3 mins then I have to re-enter the code and set the time up again. I think the radio is not getting any feed when the car is off to keep the settings.

I have read somewhere that someone had the same problem and a couple of wires have to be changed round. I cannot get the search page to work so I cannot find it.

Can someone please help as it is quite annoying to have to set the system up every time I get in the car.

Thanks

On the adaptor at the back of your sony head unit, you will find that the red and yellow leads can be disconnected. Swap these connectors round so that yellow now goes to red and vice-versa.

Problem solved

Thanks Wimmy,

Is this on the adaptor that came with the headunit that i need to change the wires or the fiat cable.
I presume the it doesnt really matter but just thought I would check.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

The Sony adaptor is designed for this. If you have a look at it, you will notice that the red and yellow leads have bullet connectors on them. Therefore no need for wire cutting. Just unclip and clip back in.

(It should actually tell you this in the manual for your new sony radio, lol)

I will have to read that some time it might come in handy :)

I had a right nightmare with this. I couldn't find any bullet connectors behind mine, in fact on closer inspection couldn't find a permanent feed! I had to run a wire to my head unit when I ran power to the sub.

Contrary to anyone's advice none of the colors seemed to do what they were supposed to! Strange because the Fiat stereo worked fine!

If you find yourself really struggling, find a wiring diagram on the back of the stereo or in a manual somewhere, and just check each wire with a circuit tester!

i have this exact same problem with my Blaupunkt Casablanca CD51, when ever i remove the face plate or turn the engine off for a few minutes it looses the clock settings, it keeps the radio settings though, it just looses the clock which is annoying because as you all know the 1.4S doesent have a clock in the interior.

i would assume this fix will work for mine as well but i just wanted to be sure before i blow myself up and nacker my head unit, i jusr bought a remote control for my head unit which i will be fitting, prime opportunity to have a fiddle with the wires :)

thanks in advance
