General New Ducato engines.

Hi

The currently fitted Fiat 2184 cc engine and the PSA 2179 cc engines are different, though both are loosely called a "2.2". Neither are the same as the Ford related 2198 cc fitted several years ago. See the photos in the thread above.

I note from the latest (June 2024->) Peugeot/Citroen brochures and specifications that we seem to have reached a situation of harmony never before seen i.e. the entire Ducato, Boxer, Relay and Movano (perhaps Toyota too) van ranges are now rolling of the production line with the exact same power plants:

- 2184cc 83.8x99 140 and 180BHP (though still called a BlueHDi in the PSA variants and a Multijet3 in the FCAs) i.e. the Jeep-derived Family B engine above.
- manual and 8 speed auto (referred to as EAT8 by PSA and AT8 by FCA)

Wither PSA's DW12.

I can imagine a meeting across the Stellantis table where FCA gave PSA their engine in return for PSA's EAT8 'box, perhaps.
I know that the ranges have had the occasional engine in common, such as the 2.2 PUMA 100BHP 5 speed and the 3.0L, but I think this is new ground.

The latest Boxer handbook (from about March this year) is very much Fiat Ducato graphic style. (and it was very much Peugeot prior to that).

It specifies a 2184cc engine in the current Boxer.

Interestingly enough, if you go to the prior version of the manual, it specifies a 2197cc (not 2179cc) engine!. (and the Peugeot website shows 2148cc on some versions, which is obviously a typo)

The truth is in there somewhere.

(My suspicion would be that, since Peugeot now offer the automatic box, Stellantis have standardised on the engine that it was originally configured for).
