When driving down a residential road with cars parked on either side and it's a time when kids are about, I would drive at 20, so that if that did happen, I would be less likely to kill anyone. Like the man said, Hazard Awareness.
It's called responsilbe driving. Kids are unpredictable and not fully aware of the dangers. I, however, am aware, so must take responsibility for my actions.

yeah but the point is you should always be thinking what if? if you see or hear kids on the road, wether on the pavemnt or in their front gardens you slow down or is that just me?

If I wasn't speeding (this can be proven) and there were sufficient witnesses, then apart from living with the tragedy, it would be deemed a tragic accident and these new laws would not apply.

again not answered the question. if u see a hazard yes then u slow down. in an accident u dont see the hazard hence y its an accident.

have to agree with rob, what a ****.
it pissses me off that i was always taught that you have to give way @ zebra crossings but no one seams to these days & yes it is law.
if im on my own & i can see that they are not going to stop & they are far enough away then i will start to cross the road so they have to brake harder than they would have had to if they were going to let me cross.
if im with my son i just step back from the kerb & extend my arm & make the w**ker hand sign to them because at the end of the day thats what they are.
the people who think they dont have to stop dont deserve a driving licence & need to learn the highway code & retake their test.

Smee - please read your Highway Code and respect the laws. In general, they are there to protect life and at the end of the day parents can teach their children as much as they can but children are still totally unpredictable and exiteable and make mistakes. I am sure that if you did hit and kill a child you would be devastated and it would take you a long time to get over it. If it didn't then I weep for your soul.
Sabre - I know that picking up on peoples poor grammar is a little hobby of yours and is genuinely funny at times but I feel that in such an emotive post is perhaps not the best time. Please continue in other threads by all means but in threads suc as this is just fans flames and causes bad feeling. Thanks mate.
