Comps in and running (mmm 28deg at cpu apparently lol ) turned room upside down finding backup of win xp, but tis v scratched, am i right in thinking i should be able to boot from it? because it wont let me

Think its not booting from cd as its a backup if you catch my drift
Windows ME wont install for some reason (pos because my pooter not a dell and its a dell specific cd?) formatted C: for like an hour and then wouldnt install

have you checked in BIOS to see if it's set to boot from CD?
and some less than legal copies of WinXP havn't been copied properly and don't boot.
avoid me like the plague... it's a similar thing.

Was only trying ME to then run the xp cd, and sure this copy of xp (backup, original doesnt get scratched etc......) has booted up before but seems not
Got a proper copy on its way to me tomorrow so should be cool

i bought some stuff for my pc now i got a fan controller! WOO ended up breaking on of the temp sensors tho anyone know if you can buy them from somewhere?
and i got a new logitech mx1000 laser mouse and a new Sony mp3 player
also bought a sound card, but i havent installed it yet as i cant see where i can connect my front Audio jacks to the card :chin: or do they just stay where they are and magically make thier musical way round?

Then another 3 fans maybe - another 2 80s as blowholes and an old PSU fan I got kicking round with some ducting might make a mighty fine GFX cooler for free.................. :chin:
