Panda 2019 Cross Twinair - 55,000 miles, but lots of small stop start journeys stopping/starting on country roads. I’ve recently had problems getting into 1st gear, at times unable to find it and having to start in 2nd, also crunching/difficulity in selecting reverse. Selecting between gears has also felt a bit clunky. I had the the master and slave cylinder replaced, and it resolved it for a month or so, but we’re back to the same scenario. The pedal is right to the floor before I get to biting point. I assume it’s a new clutch required now, any ideas on cost/recommendations

We have seen a lot of reports of this exact failure at this sort of mileage,

If you replace the clutch, it'd be false economy not to replace the DMF, even if it appears sound, The DMF is a wear and tear part which quite frequently fails before the clutch itself.

Coincidentally, there's another TA with this exact same issue right now in a parallel thread.

That thread would suggest a shade over £400 for the parts if doing it yourself, or around £1400 all in if done by an independent Fiat specialist.

Agree with JRK it sounds like the clutch is playing up. I would say firstly try bleeding the clutch hydralics though. Ihad a Panda 100 that went like this and bleeding the hydraulics resolved it. This job should be done every 2 years and frankly I dont care if its supposed to be maintenance free, It needs doing as of routine to be sure,The 4x4 puts extra strain oi the clutchcompated to teh 2wd cars. You only need to notethe absence of wheelspin on wet, greasy and gravel strew junctions to know the 4x4 and clutch are doing things to realise its going to have a cost at some point. My specialits says the TA car has a conventional slave cylinder but I have not verified this. I believe the concentric slave has a blee oint outside the bellhousing though, Im told the clutch for my car is currently £440 but others report £400 or slightly less. I have asked for an LUK clutch which I hope is the netter side of the quality range. Bearing in mind how evry cosy has near doubled in 2 years I am not much suprised at £1400 for the whole job especially as the entire subframe need to be dropped for acceptable access to remove the geatbox which makes it a 6.5 hour jpob. The centre b earing on the prop shaft is a rubber mounted thing and has a limited life too. It may well require attention at 55K so be prepared to need to have this replaced while the part is removed or you could end up withn extra costs soon after. Normally it seems its more economic to replace mthe entire prop shaft than mess about with this bearing which must be shrunl onto the shaft when new. My car is going for this reair next week and I will be reporting back on final costs and how successful the repair is if this helps. Its really annoying at such low milage but the alternative is tochange the car and I cant find anything I want to buy.... if I could afford it which I really cant do any more. I have decided to go to a specialist, with a Panda 4x4 fanatical fitter thats well recommended on here/ (Fiat Alfa Workshop Royston Herts) I will revioew tehm heretoo after the job and hope this helps other members. There is a post on here by member @HertsHillHopper about an issue with the gear selctor seizing thant might also be relvant. He found a partially seized selector shaft that is a DIY job to resolve.

Adding to this because Since the clutch was done, and on picking the car up it was clear all was not well. Its upset the master cylinder. The clutch is sticking down. Its only the top half inch or so, but enough to cause problems. I hook the pedal up with my toes and then its ok for a few miles, till it happens again. Its probably coincidental but I wish they had just replaced the thing. Its £64 on S4P. I will do it when I have a spare hour just need to send for the part. No time just now, so cars off the road again. Much more of this and hes for the chop. I only keep two cars going so we have a spare in case the girls cars are off the road for maintenance. Anything would do for this.
Its the long distance capability that is Noops (TA) ace though. I think if we just had the 1.2 I would not be happy on long journeys that the TA dismisses so easily. Im still.moving towards a moggy.
