sorry for lack of spellcheck

I dont think its the alternator due to me only doing 8 min jornies mainly and leaving it over the weekend killed it

new battery will do me i dont like to think about the alternatives

On that basis, how long do you reckon the new battery will last?

My advice to you...
Charge the battery overnight.
Buy a decent solar charger (not the cheapo £10 off ebay but the ones that put out more from less sunlight).
Always try to park with the solar charger facing the sun.
Even on overcast days, the solar panel will be putting something back into the battery.
(worked for me on my last car, battery was 9 yrs old & all I ever did was 3 miles each way)

is your cig lighter switched with the ignition? if so your going to have to make a lead up to connect it direct to the battery.

edit got an alternator tester if you want it testing and you can find Goole..

Aldi in Selby still have shed loads of intelligent Battery chargers in for about £10-15 (cant remember the exact price) they are splash resistant so safe to leave out in the rain...

it looks something similar to this..

Do you have a drive way? personally i'd go for a mains charger and just use that overnight the aldi one switches to trickle charge so it wont "boil" your battery unlike some of the older or cheaper chargers... Its a bit of a PITA to do every night but at least its not as much of a pain than having to jump start it....

how can you change the cig lighter to constantly live without ripping the loom to bits

:yeahthat: but get the alternator tested most car parts centers will do a free battery and alternator test before flogging you which ever you need. but if your only doing a 8 minute hop across town on a daily basis with the heater, rear screen and lights on there isn't much hope of the alternator having the time to top the battery back up...

so if the problem comes back after a few weeks you know what it is...

taking the long way home once or twice a week might do it some good..
