Im a student at the minute and in need of my car back,

I've booked it in for an MOT tomorrow at 3.. the problem is that it doesn't have a current MOT, TAX or Insurance.

Its literally drive out the couldersack and 2mins down the road but should I take the rist? I cant really afford it to be towed as im on a very tight budget.

Would they let me off if I were to be stopped?

Any information would be greatly apreciated :p

Cheers

if you tax and insure it you can legally drive it there without MOT

as long as it is straight there no stops or anything.

Insurance can be done pretty much instantly online.

Tax im not sure about the rules are a bit funny i think if you get it online you get a period of being able to drive without a valid tax disc. I'm not sure if that is just for renewing though

You cant tax it without an MOT so just insure it and then its legal to drive it there as long as you go straight from your house (or where ever the car is) to the MOT station then from the MOT station straight back home with no detours or stops anywhere else

good point i forgot you cant tax without MOT

As above you need to put insurance on it.

This is the absolute law and they will not let you off if stopped
You can't tax without an mot and you can't mot it without taking it to a testing centre so you are allowed to drive it to the testing centre and back, but know where else.

You have to, have to, have to! Be insured !!! No two ways about it

If you have your own insurance on another car you can usually add a temporary car for short periods but I'm not sure of any companies that would do a one off days insurance especially on an in taxed uninsured car, you would probably need a full policy

You can't tax it with day insurance, take out a year policy, if the car fails or is a problem cancel the policy, may cost you a small fee which may well be less than a days cover. If it passes go straight to Post Office and tax it.(y)

Didn't pass ;\

Not happy, i'll perhaps make another post about what went wrong and see if anyone can help me / recomment cheap garages or parts.

Even if someone on here has any idea and the labour charge works out less might be a plan?

cheers for the help though :p
