1.1 spi, Price stays undisclosed lol, I paid over the odds, but the bodywork is in good nick and it has a warranty.

It feels slower than the old punto, seems to take an age to rev through the range. Should be faster than my old Punto though:confused:

Has a slight miss when acclerating from low revs, just like the Punto used to have. I cured that with a new fuel filter, so I'll give that a go. Can feel the vibrations when idling unlike the smooth Punto too, so just a good service should cure it.

Brake pedal is higher than the other pedals, so annoying, but I've been told by friends that it's due to the literally just fitted discs and pads, is that right? Apparently it'll drop down as they wear in.

If anyone else with a Sei could point out anything that may be abnormal in the pics, and the characteristics of their car, then I would much appreciate the feedback.

Other than that, I'm pleased! I like the seats lol.

Let the modding fun begin!

LOL, yeah it's very tempting, not sure what Mr Insurance man would say to that though!

I'll have a wander off and take a look at your thread, sounds good!

I also have a petrol smell too apparently in the car, I can't smell it but my sister can lol.

Clear indicators seems a good place to start, however something in me likes the orange ones?

Bring on the Ace lol.

Wonder if it hit the brake lines one

Hmmmm, thanks for the info guys. I'm free tomorrow so I'll be having a good check around the tank area and the lines. Also giving it a compression test and see whatt he spark plugs are like while I'm there. (Looks quite cramped uinder there, wish me luck getting the plugs out and the tester in!)

First thing this morning, started it up and the rev counter was dead  After a few seconds it jumped into life, weird.

When I got in the car after work I could definetely smell petrol (it had been sitting there for 6 hours).

Now I know what you guys mean by that annoying flatspot when it's cold! Jeeez, that really is quite bad!

Very nice mate, very clean sei.
Yea those fogs are standard on the mk1 sportings.
this may sound stupid but remember to check the petrol cap too, i noticed with mine i could lock it when it wasnt completey on and i could always smell petrol and the mpg was crap, just a thought

Right. Some bright spark has cross threaded number 2 spark plug thread. Grrrrrrrr. In the meantime I've just put the new plug in with force and lots of lube, get the thread repaired when/if the head comes off. The old plugs, they were rusty and looked extremly old, it really wouldn't surprise me if they were originals.

Also replaced the air filter and put some injector cleaner in. Halfords have a fuel filter on order for me. The slight miss at low revs has gone now, yippee! It still seems to idle rough though. I think I may be able to hear slight bottom end knocking too :(, not 100% on that one though.

The coolant cap is leaky, can hear it hissing when the engines off and it's warm. I'll get a new cap.

Had a look at the petrol cap, I have no idea how to see if it's leaking, but when I filled it up from empty, there was no hiss. Where do I get a new one from?

No puddles or leaks from the fuel tank, can't see any damp patches or evidence of leaking either. Just turned 50 miles and the gauge is about 4-5mm from halfway:eek:

nice looking motor. i easily get 200miles on half a tank on my sporting at min its 100miles on quater a tank all the time.
unsure about the fuel cap but it still takes me a few attempts to make sure it locks properly after filling up

Hi, thanks for the comments!

Can you tell me, if you rev the car to say 2000rpm when it's warm, can you see coolant in the expansion tank being disturbed. Ie. it looks to me when I do it that water is splashing in through the pipe that looks like it's coming from the throttle body.

Also, do these cars have two lambdas? I thought I read in the Sei section someone talking about a primary and secondary.

Also can you tell me the correct tyre pressure for the sportings (on 14 inchs), thanks.

Thanks!

It now has remote central locking thanks to the alarm I fitted (woohoo, so simple yet so nice to have). ICE is progressing nicely also.

Took it for a blast on the motorway, feels more and more like the old Punto did in terms of engine/engine response. So in other words, it looks like it needed a few miles under its belt to get going again, must have been sat still for a while in the showroom.

I'm pondering taking the sub out for weight saving, I hardly have it up to it's max at all. Although I do like to immerse myself in a good tune every now and then lol.

Got a few nice things planned, but they'll have to wait for next payday lol
