My new VXR

My new VXR

I wonder if I can get any recognition for my Miltek post earlier in this thread? LOL Seen them do a whole Monaro VXR system which costs £1900 but was highly praised by some big motoring journos so was the only real choice.

As for mods releasing greater horsepower then three weeks ago I seen a 05 stock (apart from induction kit and induction piping) Civic Type-R on the rollers, 197bhp as standard, on the rollers 217bhp, seen with my own eyes, 20bhp from an albeit expensive induction kit but still 20bhp for £350 is awesome in my eyes.

So Mark keep an eye out for the Mazda MPS in your travels...............!

Liam

hehe, I will do Liam.

I'm just waiting for my dealer to confirm the delivery and fitting of the zorst right now. I'll be using Thorney Motorsports exclusively for this car, they have a very good rep with the vxr and their setup is extremely impressive.

Did they put the car on the rollers with the standard induction setup though? There are lots of factors which can affect the results, not least the rollers themselves. I know some coop owners have gone to an RR, then gone to another RR and got a reading 20 bhp different.

Yeah i'd get RR print out from standard, then with exhaust and then with remap to see you have got the oooooooomph! Or just before the remap and after the remap. Is the exhaust going on first? This thorney motors thing your on about, is that just the name or is it in a place called thorney too? If so that is rather close to me.. I know there is quite a few large car places round there like a jabba sports outlet and others? Wednesday still not far away, im sure ill go really quickly :)

Thorney Motorsports is based in Milton Keynes (sp)
Where abouts are you mate ?

The exhaust is going on before I get the car, the dealers have arranged for one to be sent there and are fitting it as soon as they get it, hence the possible delay in when I get the car.

Just looked into the chip/remap situation and it's actually a 43bhp increase on the astra vxr, so mixed with the 15bhp from the zorst then I'll be pretty happy with that :)

The type r is known to get very impressive gains from breathing mods. One of the only cars that does. Then again some of the induction kits for them cost the better part of £700 but do pretty much promise large gains for what it is. Exhausts etc give pretty good gains as well. Just one of those cars that does get good gains from simple mods. KNow people have had clio 182's and got like a 2bhp increase with induction kit on the type r's they have they were getting noticeable increases 15+bhp etc.

It just went on with the new kit, it was uber new possibly a last 05 plate but the guy who carried out the test said he seen plenty more Type-R's do that so I believed him.

Anyway, lets not hi-jack Koa's thread.

Liam:)

I don't care mate, we can use this to talk about anything for all I care as long as it's car related :)

Mark good buy went out in one on a test drive unfortunately as a passenger  (y)

Btw never got round to the spin in the Stilo Lol :bang:
Yeah shame mate, I have it for just one more day too :)

Stilo is going on wednesday morning weather the new car is ready or not. I have cancelled my insurance and I can't be bothered to mess about to keep it going just for another day or two. So by 10am on that day I will be Stiloless.

Did the driver really show what the car was capable of Jamie ?

And my mates buggered off to bournemouth without me earlier

Umm well didn't rag that much but gave it a bit of a spanking as it was my step-dad he's looking into new cars..

Think he wants a Tourag now though

So will you be taking the Stilo out for it's last drive tonight? Giving it a good 'ol spanking lol to hear what it sounds like for the last time?
I can't, cuz I have let the petrol get as low as I can so as not to cost me any more money. I need all my pennies for the remap now so another fiver in the petrol is just not gonna happen. I have a couple of roads where I can spank it on the way to the dealers on wednesday morning, just to get the last few drops out :)

Koa, Why don't you enjoy the VXR's 240 brake for a while, before inreasing the power? I always remember Arthur (bloke on the coop forum who had a 400bhp coop) saying savour each step up in performance, as opposed to rushing every power boost every time you can afford it!

Well for one Pinin the performance exhaust is an optional extra through vauxhall, although my dealer didn't know this.
He though they used an Irmscher system like they do on the other astras, but I was informed by the thorney motorsport people that it's actually the Miltek one that Vauxhall provide but you have to be specific when ordering it. So basically, I have been in touch with my insurance and they said, because it's an optional extra and it's fitted before I get it, there wont be any extra premium. So I still have no mods on my car as far as my insurance company are concerned.

As far as the remap is concerned it will be about 5 weeks before I get that done, so I'll have plenty of time to get used to the 254bhp so I'll see a big boost when I finally get it done :)

I totally understand what you are saying mate, I would have prefered to wait myself but this was the sensible option I spose

one thing to say ignore the manufacturers talks about breaking it in as long as its warmed up and been running a while give it stick big time. Driving it hard from new is actually better than running it in slowly.

I intend to mate, believe me :D

I will be picking it up in the morning now. The zorst is going to be here in 5 days so I figured I may as well have some fun for a few days, then feel the benefit more once it's fitted.

All i have to say is im jealous i want a bright red modded VXR lol.

Gonna have to wait a couple more years been looking around at insurance for cars around that insurance group too many of them gimme the same thing not till your 24/25. Or i get ridiculous quotes over £3k

Your car is lovely though mate.

I think the insurance companies put people into very unfair categories. There are so many sensible drivers between the age of 20-25, surely that should be taken into consideration a bit more for cars like this.
