My new VXR

Cheers chaps, red is they way to go with the vxr though :D

This is one car that the full leather seats is not the best option IMO. They look dull in comparison to the half leather, and the cloth part of the half leather seats is what makes the interior look nice and dark.

VXR's in the BTCC are a little different diff suspension diff power etc etc. Makes a whoe new driving car.

And what did the VXR do the ring in? It cant have been much different its a known fact pretty much the megane 225 out handles the VXR it just doesnt have the same pace but theres not a lot in it. And remap alone the 225 hits 270bhp.

I think it must be mate

This aint a renault versus the world thread Wozza

VXR done the ring in 8 mins 35. something.

As posted previously on this thread  here's the video's to prove it

faster than Ford Focus ST (8m51s) and Golf V GTi (8m52s)

Remap alone gives the VXR 280 bhp too btw

It's not just the suspension and stufff that's different on the BTCC VXR.

BTCC engine is based on the 2.2 all alloy block with a 2.0NET head off the Vectra/Saab unit.
Other than the block and head nothing else is from the production engine.
Engine runs in inlet restrictors , TOCA series ECU etc..... develops circa 290 - 300PS.....ish

Actually if you read the construction regs you will see that there are many things[modifications] that are NOT allowed I was quite suprised that they resemble the road going car in many ways EG no forced induction for one  CC limit and no excesive engine mods :)

That's basically the whole concept of the BTCC isn't it though. It keeps the racing exciting to watch :)

Thats correct Mark its more down to driver skill as in the case of Mike Jorden who won the last race in the Honda mind you the fact that it is Matt Neals car of last year might just be of help :) and of course he is a very accomplished GT driver must help :D

I have to say, I love those BTCC Hondas, I think the styling is spot on :yum:

Did you know Mark that the alloys come from Matt Neals Foundry he makes alloys for a living or should that be his work force does :p

who would've thought that a VXR could spark such a long thread? lol

the point of BTCC has been missed by some here, the cars are very similar to production models in the fact that they use the same engine configurations i.e as PNL said no forced induction etc, but they weigh much less, have incredibly expensive suspension which is set up to perfection.

As for the megane being a better handling car than the VXR, i thought the original 225 got slated as being understeerey (what a word!) and vague. I believe the trophy sorted a lot of this out but thats taken a couple of years of development.

id like to see what the mrk 2 VXR will be like if it follows the same route!

Dazza - your cars nice, bit small and too many about for my liking, but awesome all the same

Koa- you're a lucky b@stard! lol top car, good choice over the Focus ST.

lol, too many pain killers, no such thing mate :yum:

Yes it's a very long thread, wouldn't be if there was another car section on the forum though  :D

Dunno if I mentioned it, but I now get the remap done tomorrow. I had to switch to a local company for the map due to personal reasons so I am gutted because Thorney Motorsports is a top place and John, the guy who runs it has been really good to deal with. But sh*t happens and as long as the cars mapped then that's ok.
Not that this other company are a step down, more a step sideways so I will have no worries. Other VXR owners have used the place, it's called Regal Autosports
It's in the Southampton area so only 25 miles or so from me.

ive heard of Regal, they've been tuning vauxhalls for donkeys years!

tomorrows the big day then? bet you're all excited!

bit of a shame you cant make the Thorney place, but at least you get it done... 280bhp  excellent!

There are too many painkillers when you're trying to work with the dullest software in the world, SAP! ah well, egypt on monday:slayer:

Egypt  You jammy bugger. Business, pleasure, or both ? :)

I'm excited about the map for sure. The weird thing is that, they tune the standard VXR up 280 bhp, but I have the Milltek full performance exhaust which added 15bhp to standard, yet it will still be around 280bhp, maybe a little more.
The guy said the torque is where it's gonna really show it. Well over 300 ft / lb. :)

Just pleasure my friend! a weeks hol with the family, should be good(y)

i suppose the exhaust will shows its presence in the way the motor spools up, it may have the same peak power as a standard VXR, but like you say more torque and a freer (sp?) revving engine will prob be a lot different in reality.

as well as looking and sounding the nuts!

Yeah that's what the guy from Regal was saying, the zorst also keeps things a bit cooler so it's a more stable 280ps.

I've always wanted to go to Egypt, my old boss went there and said the sights were astounding. I've always been into the pyramids and he bought back loads of pictures  Maybe in a couple of years when the kids can appreciate it more it'll be worth going for us. :worship:
