EVO managed a 6.3 with the 172. Gotta say something.

The VXR and 182 arent much different the 182 isnt any faster than the 172 though really.

But the clio on a tight circuit with lots of bends would leave the VXR trailing behind. In all fairness i have seen them take on and make skylines and porsches have to move over. Its all driver ability though.

Same as the civic type R versus both of these cars unless your a good driver that few points of a second means naff all 1 slightly bad change and its all gone.

Clio is one of the greatest cars in the bends. And wait for the 197 to come out apparently according to one of the guys at cliosport whos helped in the development he tried keeping up with one in a 182 he got left for dead. And the 182 was one of the greatest handling cars ever. Also got soe of the most amazing brakes ever too. a 182 will outbrake a Ferrari 360. The 197 has even better brakes.

Not many people like the styling of the 197 and its not any faster than the 182 however i think renault have got something special in the handling department planned even with the extra weight. If its as good as were led to believe there is gonna be hardly anything thats able to keep with it in the bends.

Does Koa do a lot of racing then? :p, and if I was koa I'd be chuffed with an Astra Vxr, he wouldn't have bought it if he didn't like it and I'm sure he doesn't care if a clio does go quicker round a track :p.

I hope you're joking...! My mate has a 182 Cup; I think and even he says the brakes are a bit **** (he hates putting things he owns down  )

Anyway... :p

With your new motor, do you not really care what anyone says about it, or how people compare it etc because you know deep down it's just the perfect car for you ?
I get annoyed sometimes, but then I dont think mine is the perfect car for me! Maybe i'll change my mind after some 'light' tuning ;)

oooh, what you got planned mate ?

I get the map done next weekend, but I'm a little dissapointed as it's been reduced in BHP gains to combat heat problems. They wanted to run a stable map rather than risk blowing something. They are testing a charge cooler so it will allow the more agressive map at a later stage. So the bhp will now be around 280-290. Still I aint complaining cuz it's gonna be awsome even at that. :)

Oh yes it will be awesome... Ive been in an Octavia II vRS with around that figure- :D:D:D Bloody brilliant. So will yours get put on a RR whilst they're remapping it?

The vRS nearly has its induction sorted, (K&N panel/bigger air intake from the Ibiza Cupra TDI) then I think i'll take it to a Revo Technik dealer to get a Blueflame exhaust and a custom remap. Im hoping it will be 185-190bhp and a ****eload of torque

Seen tests done 100 - 0 in the clio takes less than 4 seconds when the brakes are working properly they dont feel like it but they do brake incredibly well.

And i would rather have the VXR myself. Im just saying the Clio can take most things in the bends unless theres a massive difference in the car it'll keep up with most things. I't might loose a couple car lengths but it wont get hammered.

And no doubt koa goes on track with it lol. And the VXR is a better looking and better performing car. The clio just handles better but its a much smaller lighter car its going to. Wasnt starting an argument lol.

That's cool (y)

As far as the handling goes any car with such a short wheelbase is gonna go round bends well if it's the sports branded model. If it don't then there's no point making it, the clio is in a different market to the Astra VXR, but I can tell you the vxr goes round bends a lot better than you'd imagine and with all that power to put down on the way out it's a completely different car to the Clio. You'll see, look me up at a meet and I'll give you a demonstration, and make sure you're wearing a diaper I don't want my seats getting messy :D ;)

No point in making the Panda then.
I can tell you that the Panda Sporting isn't the best handling car in the world... :p

lol, the panda sporting is more of trim level indication than any real sporting prowess :)

VXR not as good as 182 :p

Wow this comment certainly sparked a few honest opinions, what I like to see :)

Korang - At the end of the day I bought the 182 cause I personally love it and didn't think of anyone else when I bought it. People don't like it then thats there problem not mine. :)

I personally like the 197's styling. Maybe in a few years I will replace the 182 with this

all this talk of clios as inspired me so went lookin for a v6 just got a insurance quote and thinkin off gettin 1 now. i never thought id be a clio person thought they was always a bit small for my likin but iv bin converted

If you want a car your capable of drifting round bends look elsewhere if you want a car that can sit besides ferraris and not look out of place the Clio is for you. Unless your a talented driver though dont bother. If your not honestly that great but you have some talents get some lessons as that car needs a great driver to get it moving properly. it has an engine over the rear wheels and doesnt have anywhere near perfect distribution of wieght as a result they like to spin especially the earlier models if put in the wrong hands.

If however your after a car with presence 2nd to non for less than £15000 and 0-60 in under 6 seconds the clio is for you! I would love one myself but i would take some lessons in driving one to get the most out of it and id be visiting lots of tracks to find its limits.

But then again for the money i could buy a Supra twin turbo and get it modded to over 450bhp for the same price and be in a far better handling car. Can you see what im going for next especially considering the sinurance is so cheap on them compared to other cars in that area!

Thanks Johny, I don't suppose you have another more up to date version of that do you, with more models on it ?

I see both the Clio V6 and the megane trophy were both slower round the ring than the Astra vxr

Whats up with Vauxhall this year in BTCC they are taking a right battering can you really put it down to the new drivers and weight have you got any info on whats going on there mark ?

Well the second race last weekend saw 3 vxr's get bumped out on the first lap :D

The first week was down to nerves of the driver IMO, he bottled it when someone got on his ass :D I mean just look at Tom Chiltern, he looks about 12 years old :D

THe move that was made on Giovenardi by Rob Collard was down right dirty and Giovenardi still went on to take 5th I like the guy considering its his first time in Btcc he shows plenty of spirit (y) cant get over how Seat didnt perform in Mondello either cosidering their total dominance in the first meeting :)

yeah very weird mate, I thought they'd be on top for most races after that first meeting.
