Punto (Mk1) My Mk1 55s Punto project, finally finished.

Introduction

How I got it:
Blown head gasket
Rusted through coolant passages in head
Handbrake not working
Rusted heater matrix
Warped discs
Cam cover leaking (a common problem in punto's? lol)
Shocks busted, except 1, lol
all locks broken (attempted break in, just broke the locks..)
passenger door damaged (chav attempted break in w/ crowbar) I'm hidin the green door as much as i can in the pics lol.
Don't remember what else was up.. not bad for £50

just gave the head a decent refurb and clean up, same with the rest of the mechanical parts of the engine


To this day:
Cross drilled and slotted discs, standard pads lol.
-60mm springs all round, apparently...
Spax shocks all round
40mm tricker TB
Remapped Sei chip
Stiffened engine mounts
20mm spacers all round
SX dash
Oil catch can
Induction kit
1.7 TD front bumper + ebay splitter
Ebay side skirts
JBL home made box (2x 10") with JBL gto 72.1 (i think?) amp
JVC head unit
Sporting center console
50% tint rear 60% light green tint on front..
GT3 cat-back Exhaust w/ 1.2 Punto manifold and downpipe
"NEVERBEEN!" sticker on suntrip along with "MOMANATORZ" (xbox gamertag)
and fiatforum stickers :slayer:
YAY FIATFORUM!

Why did you say about a punto going 130 mph. I said it would be safer driving at 130 mph in my car than driving yours at all.
You really aught to get that head sorted. The gasket sealant should only be used as a temp fix while you sell a car quick :p

The rubber gasket sealent started leakin so i replaced it with "Plumbers mait" gone rock hard and filled in the hole hopefully. works in wet too so it's neat. should last a while lol :).
I was talkin about Punto's, not that you have one.. just sayin any Punto at 130 is dangerous! they have like 2* crash rating right? :slayer:

I'm sure the mk1 is different but I stacked my mk2 quite spectacularly and it held up very very well.

mk1 is probably half as safe as mk2. especially with no airbags? prob don't even make a difference in mk1 cos it crumples alot lol! no where near as bad as a cinq/sei lol.
you should see the NCAP crashes on youtube.

I took the airbags out of the punto and I have started removing them from the stilo. I would rather die than run the risk of the airbags going off in a prang and writing my car off :devil:

If you crashed at 130mph in ANYTHING im about 99% sure you'll die :)
Mk1 Puntos can't even reach 130mph unless its a GT :rolleyes:

Cars looking much much better without the huge splitter mate. :yum:

Get the MOT sorted and then focus on Mods. Lets face it... No point modifying a non road legal car unless its a hell of a lot faster than a Punto and actually worth racing. :p

Thanks, might get a Laguna splitter. dunno. will see how low it is first :devil:

Well i think it is faster than standard. maybe 65hp...

Dunno really. Im no Physicist but they can only be good at saving a broken arm or leg. Anything harder than that and your screwed anyway.

Just got home from pickin the wheels up.. what a mission! took nearly 6 hours. Fookin m4 diversion... if i bought a Tom Tom it would of been a waste of money here.
and one of my rear shocks nearly fell off! it came loose and was dangling... had no shock on one side for most of the journey... the bouncyness was annoying. good thing i checked when things didn't seem normal lol.
Don't know how it came loose... bolt that holds it onto the arm was missing... didn't shear cos no thread is left behind maybe it just fell out??!!

and glad i had a ****in torch and my toolbox for "just incase" phew !

all in all sort of worth it.. gonna have dinner now 3am ...

whats the plans for the alloys ?
Crazy init. If i didn't have a torch i would of been stuck or gone home riskin the shock flyin out the rear and smashin someones window or somethin.
Had to go like 40-50 tops on the M4 -__-

Well for the alloys I feel like just slappin em on but i know i should clean em up first :LOL:
and dunno what to do about tyres... should i get a whole new 2nd hand set to put on the alloys? or just get a new pair of front tyres for the alloys? or just keep my tyres and just pay the garage for swappin the tyres over... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. don't wanna waste money.
someone help me choose!!!

thinkin of gettin 185/50/or somethin tyres aswell :yum: (currently on 185/55).
