Cinquecento My Metallic Blue 1998 Cinquecento 1.1 Sporting.

Introduction

Hi well, i only joined the forum just a few day ago because i purchased this little 1998 cinqu 1.1 sporting as my little project just purely as a runaround:Djust so i do not have to drive my 2.0 16v Espace about,

I am not quite sure what iam going to be doing to it its far from being a perfict cinqu and with lots of tlc i hope in time it will be,

Well it has a years ticket on it and i have it garaged and hope to get stuck in about it in the next few weeks with a good check over mechanically then a clean top to bottom and then one of my first jobs after this is to replace the Rocker cover Gasket as it running a little at the front and then and only then will i start to sex it up a little:eek:

Cheers Scuderia

p.s Anyone now if this Blue Metallic paint colour has a name???

i was just wondering as i'm in the market for one. I'm fitting a p75 866 cam to my spare head which will eventually get bolted to my 1242 16v bottom end for my turbo sei. And a vernier pulley sounds like a good plan to get the best out of it. Look forward to the results of the rr sesh.

Ah i see, intereresting:),there sure are plenty to choice from:), from kent to piper cams, there was a company i was going to deal with called catcams.co.uk? i think? as they turned out to be the cheapest and as much as its a .co.uk company there cams are made abroad? Holland i think?,

Think they look like this below,

Second one down on the list is what i would need for my engine....i think lol, 38 Tooth/trapezoidal,that said iam not sure thats the cam you need for your job but its what i used, iam sure they might have what your looking for?

Hi all,

Well the little Fiat was on the dyno this morning at HQ Performance Services in my home town for a few runs and to get the vernier pulley set?,

Iam pleased to say most of it turned out positive:), which iam Happy about:cool:,

There was no need to set the vernier as it turned out when i rebuild the engine and fitted the vernier pulley its now pretty much in a good position?, yes it could have been adjusted giving me more at the top end or bottom end but the figures and HQ themselves suggested i keep it as it is, the car is now more or less set to my liking and taking there advice i have opted not to adjust it as its running well,

Unfortunately there is a down side iam afraid but its not all doom and gloom unless its all about poweeeer? which its not for me but don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with more horses:devil:,

The problem is iam down on BHP and Torque from the last time i was on the dyno at Dastek..... but not by much!,

The delivery of the bhp is better and the torque has improved immensely across the whole rev range where as before it peaked then dropped off,

What also happened today was the last time i was on the Dyno at HQ Performance Services when they where known as Dastek they were running on a different dyno system and software and they have since changed it all, what they did say to me today is there would be a difference in the readings from there old system and its software to the new system:(,so i can't really compare my last print out to today's runs:(,they also can't give me a BHP reading at the flywheel:crazy:,as there new software works at the wheels only:crazy:,but they do hope to correct that very soon,

The last time i was on the dyno my cars readings were 73.5 BHP @ 6.633 rpm / 68.9 lbft @ 3.572 rpm at the flywheel,

Ive now got a better delivery of power at the bottom end and a torque line pretty much where you would want it through the rev range,

They also confirmed that iam neither running rich or lean!, which iam well chuffed about,

If you also look at my afr readings from before and today there has also been a vast improvement which iam also pleased about,

You will find below my old and new figures below as well as the old and new charts,

Last Dyno Run 2009

Engine: 73.5 bhp @ 6.633 rpm / 68.9 lbft @ 3.572 rpm

Wheels: 56.2 bhp @ 6.640 rpm
---------------------------------------------------
Today's Dyno Run 2011

Engine: At the minute they can now only estimate my Engine bhp at the flywheel as 73-78bhp because of there new system software is not set up to read the bhp at the flywheel?Crazy!,which to be honest iam not fussed about,

Wheels: 52.8 bhp @ 98 kph / 52lbft @ 64 kph

So iam down 03.40.... not even 1 bhp,

Like i said we never touched the vernier pulley so theres more there if needed, Iam more than happy with my delivery and torque readings and with the fuel and air being pretty much spot on i couldn't have wished for any more,it was a good morning and iam lucky i have them on my doorstep,

I now only have less than 2 weeks of road tax left before i sorn in till next Spring:(, so i hope to get it out one early Sunday morning and take for one last drive of the year then its time to get back to work on it:D,

Don't ask whats next? as Ive a list the length of a A4 pad of paper again:eek::D, as you do,so what i'll will do is start working out whats getting done?, and whats not?,more to the point what i can afford!.

I do have a job to do on it over the next few days but as always more on that when its done:devil:,

Hi All,

Well.... what have i been up to:)?,

Well if anyone follows the wrc or irc rally?, you will noticed that there dashboards are flocked or even better still covered on black suede?,it was more popular in the 90's than today but its still used and seeing as iam a fan of its looks i thought i would like to have than done to my dashboard,

But i decided it would be to much if the whole dash was flocked or even covered in suede so i opted to just do my speedo surround apart from that i couldn't be bothered removing the dashboard again just to flock it,

Now its not a job you can do in situ as its way to complicated and messy, now because i only opted to do my speedo surround i thought i would do it myself using a black diy flocking kit from Frost Restorers Equipment, now its not easy to do and very messy and it took me more than one application to good results but Ive managed to pull it off to a pretty good finish to match my suede omp deep dish steering wheel, well pleased.

If anyone is interested is doing it?, and doing anything larger than Ive just done i would think about using these guys but the down side apart from the price is you do need to remove the part your looking done to send sown to them so it can be costly,

i'm getting the van doors, pillars, head-lining done in faux suede soon. Been looking at flocking the dash though as its just so complicated that would cost a fortune to get trimmed... Was pleased to find you can get loadsa colours theses days too :)

Cheers:),

There are down sides with using flock, one you can't hover it using a nozzle as it marks the flock so suede is much better but i can't afford it:D, you can clean flock using a paint brush or even a damp cloth like a micro fibre cloth or even a sticky cloths roller,no other cloth is good enough as it leaves fibres all over the flock especially if its black!,

Its a messy job but if your not looking to gather up the waisted nylon fibres when adhering them to the glue and whats brushed off after the glue has set its a gift to do,

But

If you looking to recycle the flock fibres you really need to do it in a dust free environment other wise when you gather up the waisted flock to be used again light coloured dust particles can get in amongst the nylon fibres and when you go to use it again the light coloured dust fibres can stick to the glue then showing through on the area you have just covered(n),

When using any coloured flock its important the glue is the same colour as the flock you intend to use,

Well i have a spare dash to mess with ;) Its really near the bottom of the to do list tbh though.

What i did was clean the area with some cellulose thinners first to remove all the years worth a sh!t that gets applied to shine the dash:D,then it took me about 2 attempts to get it covered evenly:eek:,after the first application i was left with few baldy parts:D, so i just opted to cover it in glue again after the first drying time had past, which was 24hrs,then i give it another coat then i was pretty pleased with the even coverage!,

Well the vito dash is huge so i expect to be doing several coats and making a monumental amount of mess but sounds like fun lol

Vito Dash:eek:.......fun's not the word i would use:D,your going to have your work cut out!,when you apply the glue i would do it in small stages, because the time you get from one side of the dash to other even though the glue takes 24hrs to go off it does start to dry as your apply it,because your doing a large dash you might be better with the spray can type glue as its much quicker and easier to apply, mines was brush on but the area i had to cover was pretty small,

Cheers Scuderia

indeed, this is why i bought a dash when i saw one cheap. I would much prefer to get it trimmed but gonna see how it goes first ;) theres a guy on another forum who has had his whole van trimmed in real tan leather, doors, dash, seats, head-lining... everything!! looks awesome but he clearly has far to much money lol

Hi All,

Well i had 5mins today to get the speedo surround bolted back on after it being flocked so here we are,

Ive managed to get a pretty good match between the omp deep dish steering wheel and surround so iam pretty pleased, that said i wish i had also done the gauge pod......ive still got some flock left over so i will do it down the line when ive got the time,
