Is there a 60 Team under there somewhere? Its certainly different, it'll look better all in one colour, respect to you for leaving the topic up and for the car certainly not to everyones taste including mine tbf but you obviously know what you want. although with that monster kit some beefier wheels wouldn't go amiss :)

yh my plan all along is to have suicide's on the back doors just saying the money for it atm so should all look good, then the whole car will be sprayed orange with carbon fibre work, I do want sum biigger alloys but then all the arches need to be rolled etc etc so thats a little way off atm

It's an outrage and a scandal. That's what's wrong with the world today. The only way to deal with this sort of thing is cover the road with 12" high speed humps, introduce 20 mph speed limits everywhere, except Motorways when it would be 30; raise the minimum driving age to 45 and stop people having fun in their cars. That ought to do it. Oh, and put them all in the Army, do 'em a world of good. I bet he's the sort who wears a hoodie. Young people today, not like they were in my day, we had real young people then.

NURSE! Where's my medication.......and my underpants. Wibble

Well, for what it's worth my opinions are:

Firstly yes, the car looks 'different'. But how different? Well, it's 'different' compared to an unmodified car of course. But if you were to take all the stereotypical mods that are found in a copy of Max Power/ Fast Car etc. and stick them on an average 10 year old hatchback this is what you'd end up with. It's almost like a formula that everyone wanting to mod their car follows.

Secondly, it looks a bit of a shed at the moment. It would look 'better' once the bumpers are painted to match the body, whereas currently it looks like a unfinished Chav car that you see the great unwashed driving around in on a council estate near you.

Thirdly, it appears to be all show and no go. I admit to being a big fan of the opposite - street sleepers - where all the mods are under the skin and you make a car perform far better than it looks. But personally I can never get my head around the philosophy of making a car look 'mean', 'aggressive', 'fast' or whatever when under the bonnet is a bog standard 1.2. Plus there is so much tacked on kit/ ICE etc. the extra weight makes peformance worse than a standard car!

It is different having Lambo front doors and in the future suicide rears, but again Lambo doors serve little purpose other than for aesthetics. You end up with a car that might impress a few people at a show in the middle of a field/ car park, but for everyday use turns out to be very impractical.

And really it's not that different at all as all the mods are very common amongst the modified car world...

It's all too much form over function, whereas to me it should be the other way round. I would prefer to improve on the driving experience and the performance rather than just how it looks to others. Many of the Max power cars you see are dreadfully uncomfortable and a downright pain to live with on a day to day business. But that's my taste and the fact that people buy Max Power et al shows that there is a group of people who value looks over everything else.

Oh, and I prefer Bovril to Marmite ;)

Had my medication, feel better now. Seriously, bravery brings its own rewards. Well done for having the courage in your own convictions. It may not to everyone's taste and it certainly isn't to mine, but, it's your car so you do with it what you will. Somewhere on this site, there are people saying "I wish I had the cojones to do that"

:ROFLMAO:

:yeahthat:

ive chopped that post, i agree with the above, but i think lambo/suicide doors are cool (at least for this type of car )

I would say this car is no different to any other poorly modded punto. It has the same common rear lights, the same rear spoiler, unpainted bumpers, flush tailgate (which is something i do like), Its a 5Dr which never really looks that sporty unless done right too.

Its no go and a poor show imo, The whole point of modifying a car is really to be happy with what your driving if thats what you've accomplished thats great, but the other side of it and what some people won't admit to, is the wanting other people to like your car and the work you've done, which you won't get much of.

Do you think the car looks meaner and faster, or even just better than it did before? as that front bumper has no flow with the lines of the car, makes it look tacky.

Hope you can reason with yourself that you like the car and thats all that matters. Wouldnt mind seeing the pictures from the magazines and what section they were in if you have them

we all only allowed to do 70mph on a motor way, so why pay 3 times as much in fuel to do it

Improving 'performance' also covers suspension, road holding and handling Dave. You won't need to "pay 3 times as much in fuel" to reap the benefits of improving this area of the car. ;)

Plus as Panda Sport found out, his 1242 16v Classic Panda actually works out more economical than the standard Pandas because the engine is A: more efficient and B: has to do far less work because of its size and increased power output even when going much quicker than with a 999cc 8v FIRE.

:nerner:

Someone should tell this guy this section is for members motors, not members sheds

call that a shed? this is a shed:

but seriously...i like the idea of the doors, but on a punto...no, but as has been mentioned elsewhere, your're not making this car to please others, only yourself, if you succeed in that then all well and good

This is a perennial problem. Eee! When I wer nowt but a lad, the number of 1.3 Capris/1.1 Escorts/1.3 Vivas that were made to look like 3.0/RS1600s/Magnums were incredible, simply because young drivers couldn't afford to buy, run and insure the real thing. That doesn't even begin to take into acount the number of 1.3 Sunbeams painted black with silver stripes. I was lucky as I was able to afford a Chevette HS2300, but even then I didn't tell the insurance co. about the engine mods I had done. Serves me right when the insurance co. in question would only pay for a standard car after it was written off by a truck.

(to the section mod)think it may be a good idea to delete thos BIG, LONG comments from those two. its ruining the thread.

i kinda like the car to be honest. it probably isnt something i would choose to do personally. but i respect him for doing so. its a bold move to modify cars to that extreme. and as many would say it sometimes doesnt pay off. but as we can clearly see the owner is extremely happy with his car. and i do love the boot build. keep up the good work mate and i hope to see the finished product in the future. (y)

same. i really like the doors tbh i want em say what u like everyone else! how much it set u back? im not so sure about the spoiler and the bodykit but then again i see why you do like em, personally i think the back lights would look better tinted dark along with the side repeaters.
what else are you planning on doing to it and please post pics as you go along because i am interested to see what it turns out like (y)
and the boots DOES look good :D:D

The doors set me back 2k fitted ino loads of ppl will say wat a rip etc etc n go on about getting of ebay but in all honest there s**t kits and myn have a 5 year warrenty and are currently the best kit on the market. As for the lights i bought them a couple years ago for a punto which i had before i passed my test so they got carried over onto the new car, But in time the repeaters, front & back lights will be getting tinted as i am going to have a full orange respray so with some of the carbon fibre work should look good.

As for the people slating the engine none of you know whats in it, so maybe before you slate it you shud actually ask.
