Seicento My Little Red Sei...

Introduction

Well this is my pretty much standard Red(ish) Seicento...

I've had it since September last year, was at 71,000 miles and we're now up to 78,000 and now going stronger than ever :)

I haven't done much yet, mainly due to my insurance being so high since I'm 18.

Had an oil change & an ITG Foam Filter. Also got a new clutch and rear wheel bearings along with a new handbrake cable.

And of course I had to fit Abarth centre caps and black/red floor mats ;)

I've got some drilled discs and new OMP Sport pads to go on sometime soon.

(Sorry about the picture quality, I used my phone)

It's just vibration, other than that the car sounds pretty solid. Up until 60ish it isn't even noticeable, then it just gets progressively worse with speed :(

Can you feel the vibration through the brake pedal if you brake at 70?
if you can then try a dial gauge on the datums of discs and drums then remove spacing and try again

Hi

Thanks for that Blu
But OP probably does not need to do that, until after he strips and cleans.
The brake disc has a run out spec to avoid pedal pushing in extreme, you need it to run inside the service limits in my experience.
If you fit a new disc or a refurbed disc you need to check run out.
When you fit any spacer the datum surfaces all need to be clean, no muck or corrosion pits and pocks. Note wheel wooble can feed back into a disc even if the disc is true, Ive had that donno how.
I use a special tool on the edges of the datum surfaces that may have corrosion and then t-cut the whole datum surface of each surface so it looks new.
Then I check with a clamp and feeler gauge cause my dial gauge is always hiding.
Id not remove a disc unless it needs a pro machine shop refurb, file in situ keeps the datum face interfaces in the same relation ship.
Spacers need to be both perfect and clean.

I've been down the garage this morning an it looks (hopefully) that it could be simpler but I don't know yet.

We had a look at it in the pit and it appears that the rear drivers side tyre and possibly wheel is buggered. I have no real idea how but the tyre has become mis-shaped by the look of it and has partly worn in one patch. It also looks like the wheel might be slightly buckled. This wasn't spotted on the MOT a few days ago

This would make sense because I noticed on the way down here that it feels like the vibration is now coming through my seat rather than the steering wheel. The guy who worked on my car the other day thought it was more likely to be the spacers than the buggered tyre so I will have them off tomorrow and see if that changes anything. If not it will be two new tyres for the rear (one to replace the naff one and another to replace the cracked up old nankang on the other side).

I do hope it is that then I won't have to worry about the discs or spacers at the front, although I do still have the slight pedal judder, Could this be the rear wheel?
Anyway if all this fails I will be getting my spacers checked out properly.

Hi you are having troubles.
it is possible that the brake judder could be from your rear unlikely but again I've that too
good luck
The alloy rims only need one pot hole.
Steelies more practical.

Ben, rather than paying the garage all the time it might be worth putting out a shout on a new thread to anyone nearby who REALLY knows these cars & can help you find out the cause of your issues.
Would offer myself but you know how far away I am from Debenham.

I'm sure this will teach me a lesson for living and working in the middle of bloody nowhere :(

And here's my steering issue..... (Crap sound as its on my phone :shakehead: )

Finally it looks like the problems are on the way to being sorted! :D

With some great help from @Lecook today :worship: it looks like I need some new rear shocks as the current ones are well on their way out and it appears the vibration is coming from a bent rear stub axle on the drivers side. My main concern is that wheel may be buggered aswell...

The garage found nothing wrong with the car in a whole day nor during the mot and gave the impression they thought I didn't know what I was talking about yet Lee spotted these things in just a few minutes :worship:

As long as I can find a rear trailing arm I hope to get this sorted soon, then maybe I can start looking at some upgrades

Edit: There is also a little rust starting at the back of the car by the rear arches
