my hgt want it to go faster

i have the hgt 2.0 20v xreg bravo any ideas to make it go faster without turbo its a bit slow before 4000rpm thanks.

HGT's don't generally pick up until 4000 rpm due to having a VVT engine..

It all depends on what you class as slow too... if it's really sluggish, then the MAF could be possibly on it's way out.. a common fault on the HGT.

Couple of ways of improving the performance slightly is to add a filter & exhaust. You can then go into the realms of re-maps, cams etc etc but will cost you mucho moolah.

its still standerd its not really slow i just want that power to kick in at a lower rev range

dont the vetchs have a second cam that kicks in? im sure toyota stole the technology as i know the vvtli engines do.

i love the noise it makes would it sound better with k&n on it

mine had an open cone filter, deep induction noise but if your in slow moving traffic you can loose power and mpg. go for a sealed unit with a cold air feed.

lol sounds liek a bra strap in a washer. that vid doesnt do the sound justice but a induction filter will sound much better it has a deeper tone

Got my 20v Marea to sound quite a bit tastier, simply by removing all the convaluted trunking crap ahead of the standard airbox, (when fitting a K&N replacement panel filter)

Just did it as an experiment - I've put most of it back now, 'cos I'm old and like my
'sensible' family saloon quiet these days.....lol

Remember an old member on here doing the same to his Marea. Sounded fantastic and you could hear him a mile off. All engine noise too (where it should come from)
