Punto (Mk2/2b) My black MK2 :)

Introduction

Thaught id finally get my car in this section :)

mods done so far:

  • Tinted lights
  • New door cards/centre console/handbrake surround (from HGT)
  • Removed rub strips
  • Blue dash lights
  • Rear speakers fitted
  • Seat covers (purely to hide cigarette burns from the people who had it before me)
  • Pillars sprayed black (just to freshen up)

In progress:

  • Spraying some interior parts (cd facia, outer rings on air vents, centre console and handbrake surround and possibly speaker grills)

The blue trim shown on those pictures is temporary, this was a practice on some spare parts.... i managed to get a good finish and it is a nice colour, just not for my car!
preperation is the key!!!

i used too course sand paper on mine and had a lot of prep to do because of it

i would use 200 or 400 grit to get it something like smooth, wipe with dry cloth, prime it, quick rub with 400 grit, prime again, quick rub with 800, prime again then smooth with 1200.... thats the way i did my friends mums, worked well :)

for the strips in between the windows i didnt sand at all.... but it may be a good idea to give a quick rub with 800 grit after the last coat of primer

Its all down to what you think works for you really, but that is the sandpaper i would get... 400, 800 and 1200 (possibly 200 to start off the mirrors and handles)

oright thanks ill give that a go when i get some spare cash...AND a dry day! all spent up being of silly christmas haha! (n)

what have you got next lined up for yours? that interior is really nice:)

definatly worth it and doesnt cost a lot :)

Im calming down a bit now as im thinking about a new car in september providing i get taken on at the end of my apprenticeship, i do all this to my car mainly for something to do and because i enjoy doing it rather than to make it look better..... iv ordered some of those door handle LED's (Thanks davide!)

when i get a new car i will be keeping this one, just to have a play around with the mechanical side of it :)

cheers :)

Iv just wired one of the door handle lights, and it went dark so my door card is not back on, other side is getting done tomorrow :)

Iv wired them into the interior light wiring so they come on when the door is unlocked/opened and is off when driving :)

haha that will look nice with the lights on the handles, did you get blue or white?

ahh fair enough? another fiat?
i've just manged to get a 'one of a kind' spoiler off ebay for 30quid haha and thinking of some black angel lights too :)

i got the blue ones :)

yehh another fiat, the bright orange grande punto... they only did a limited number of them... i would like a 1.9 JTD M Jet but id be happy with a 1.4 petrol... just determined to get a BRIGHT orange one :p

whats the spoiler like? black angel lights will look great aswel :D

cheers :) yehh easy to install, i drilled a hole in the plastic door handles (at the back) so they still sit flush with the door, fed the wire through...

you can see the wires a bit with the door open from where the door card ends to the seal on the inner door surround.... other than that its just a case of wiring them to where you want... i used 2 wires that go up the right pillar to the dome light, i used the 2 coloured wires (not the black one) so it comes on when the doors are unlocked/opened

and those heater lights, are the remaining 2 door handle lights wired into my existing ones that come on with the lights

good idea using the existing lights you had somewhere else... sounds like a good hours work then! i don't have a clue what im doing with wiring since i have no experiance with it all don't know which ones which... quite funny realy, planning on getting some of the door handle lights myself... i want green though to go with the dome light && my stereo

nice work mikejt. the interior light lks really gd. im just wondering if u found a way on feeding the wire for the door handles to the interior light. im having trouble feeding it through the door loom. which way did u use?

not a very good one haha!! i just got it to where the end of the doorcard is (with the doorcard off) and left a bit of slack and carried on to go behind the glovebox

you can see the wires with the door open but they dont get in the way of anything :)

thats not bad. im thinking of amping up my front two speakers but the only problem is the wiring. the wiring for the amp cant go throu the door loom so its going to have to stick out. too many wires will be showing and thts a pain. nice job btw.
