if im not back in 15min, then you know im re-installing windows

Yeah doesn't mean they are actually system files . I could make a exe called windowsiscrap.exe and put it in that folder .

Just reboot and if its ok with them in quarantine delete the suckers. Once rebooted run msconfig through start->run and look for anything out of order in the startup and services tab.

aye, deleted all files in vault, restarted, nasty thing called msn.com wanted to run, i disabled it in msconfig startup tab, restarted, everything is normal, internet and messenger run fine.

fingers crossed that this is the last il know about it

il get everyone else to do the same, too.

You need to come across more then :nerner:

Wait until you come across one that copies itself to "System Volume Information" and straps itself to the boot loader .

I hate 'em when they do that, format and re-install time.

I had 6 weeks of coursework for my English GCSE stored on the main computer in the house because I was upgrading mine and my Laptop was at my auntie's and my computer phobe step-dad got the infamous "Zlob" trojan on it.

"Warning, you computer is infected!"

It is now your on it.

a) it'll send itself to all your msn contacts
b) blue screen of death everytime you go online
c) f*** your HD

well i was havin a convo with a mate (english) then up pooped a random message with a link to a gallery all wrote in german (think it ws german, ina another language anyways)

well hes just reinstalled windows and popped up again, few mins later the same virus message appeared at my end again!

ok, windows re-install time, my PCs acting up, the internet is slow and buggy, and im just pished off

just a question: if i copy all my music to another HD, will the virus follow onto that HD? ive got quite a bit of stuff that i want to keep

all system HDD's are accessible, but whether or not it infects all drives depends on the particular infection's behavior.

a dvd drive has vanished now, wonder what will be next.
