I LOVE GRUNT and hopefully will have a little more from tomorrow :slayer: so you found the 1.6 engine a nice unit then Rich (y) I think so to and I am sure there's loads more that can be done to get the full potential out of this engine I will indeed be interesting to see what Oldschool can do with the engine he has at the moment :chin:

MOT Day

Tomorrow is the big day 3rd year service and MOT, fingers crossed!

I will either be back here tomorrow night happy or fuming at the great expense to get it to pass!

Re: MOT Day

Good luck don't come into it if you maintain your car well :) I give mine a good look over a few weeks before each MOT just to make sure its A OK and mot day should be a joyous occasion then ..knowing that the garage is going to try hard to find a fault and cant :slayer:

Re: MOT Day

Goodluck, I took mine in for service and MOT at an indy Fiat specialist and spent all day expecting mobile to ring and say need this fixed, etc, nothing until mid afternoon to say all ready for you sir....the relief!

Re: MOT Day

Mine got done lasst Wednesday and passed no probs, would of failed on emmisions though apparently if I hadnt had the EGR valve changed at the same time.. some one had been mentioning if an emmisions test was done on a JTD.. clearly is!

Do the basic tests, have a walk round the car checking stupid things like lights, door opening properly, tyres, washers and wiper etc. You will be surprised at the number of people who drive around with lights out. (yes I know Stilo has a bulb check - but it doesn't check all bulbs). Horn is also an easy one to check.

Go for a drive before you take for MOT so it is up to temp and oil temp is high enough to do emissions check.

Other than that, there isn't much easily to do yourself.

Now if you wanna get dirty  then you can jack up and check for track rod end ware wheel bearings ..even climb under and check for a blowing exhaust system ..check condition of all the rubber brake hoses legal tyres even if your rear axle bushes are leaking ..condition of seat belts and that they all work correctly Lights as Steve said you could even park up in the night to see if your beams are correctly aligned [best place to check that is against a wall ]see if your beams are ~~~~ or a car park where couples are courting  loads of stuff you can check your self (y)
