I was looking at my paperwork a few mins ago after recieving my tax reminder for the end of the month, and realised my MOT is due on the 10th, that caught me out a bit!! so am taking it in first thing in the morning.

The last two years it has passed first time with no advice, I wonder if it will be the same this year?

Been round it today, all the tyres are good, lights work, horn, brakes and handbrake good, no play at wheels, rear bushes good, hmm the only problem I can foresee is maybe the petrol cap, it has to be operated by a screwdriver!! it does seal though so fingers crossed

YESSSSS

They replaced a headlight bulb as it was faulty, and I have 3 advice notes to get sorted out when I can - front brake discs slightly worn, a small rear metal brake pipe slightly corroded, and a tiny amount of play in a rear bearing

My mileage shows that I have done 10,600 miles since last MOT, the tyres dont even look worn after all that!!

Congrats on the MOT. It's always a good feeling.

How bad was the brake pipe? I was under our car sorting out a badly sealed exhaust join (note to never use that garage again) and noticed a little bit of corrosion on a brake pipe. Can you treat it with some sort of inhibitor or does the section of pipe need replacing?

Cheers,

Ben

The MOT man said the pipe will need doing, he gave it a good wire brushing to see what it was like and it was good enough for a pass

I have priced up brake disks, they are a measly £7 each plus vat from my local factors

wheel bearing already sorted, just needed a tweak up with the large nut
