General MOT Failure, Need advice please!

After a long long think I'm going to keep the car and get it through it's MOT this time round and I can't really say what will happen in future MOT's but sometimes age can become such a challenge in old cars and if your that dedicated to the car then the world is your oyster!

Shall keep everyone posted, I appreciate every single one post in this topic guys!

This Punto shall live on! :slayer:

Should have been like :bang:

Hey guys,

Got my quotes well two but I think I'll be wasting my time going all over the shot for more cause I'll guess they fit into the same range.

One garage quoted £336 personally I think that's a bit steep in my opinion and another garage quoted £300 which I think sounds more like it, other garage trying shaft me for money.

What you guys think?

You can buy a MIG welder for less than that.

I'm inclined to think that both quotes are on the low side for doing it properly rather than just plating (remember that even if replacement panels can be found, they tend to be pretty expensive).

True on the MIG welder thing, but no experience in that field I'm afraid but first garage actually told me how he was going to sort the filler neck which is block of metal there cut a hole for filler neck and secure the neck and flap to the metal. Which I believe another guy suggested that on here...

Knowing my luck I'd do one of those cowboy jobs :p so I'm going to let a professional do it and to be honest it's mainly underbody that needs sorting but I can say now once it's done going to scrap off any surface rust, hammerite and then underseal this damn car!

Should of done this in the first place but, me being me I was too naive about the car

All sorted guys, I'll be saying bye to my lovely punto for day or two (depends how long they take with it) on thursday it'll be in their hands to sort...Then going to sort headlights out and handbrake then put it in for the partial retest and hopefully get a pass mark and be on my way for another 12 months MOT! :D

That just for the welding, or everything?

Just for the welding, but as the guy said to me even if the car needs extra welding apart from the areas pointed out he'll sort and he'll still be happy to take £300 for it not only that but the guy was nice enough to even deliver the car back to mine with no extra cost, due to the old MOT will expire tonight. So I think I got myself a good deal there :D
