Technical more on Idea cooling system

Further to the thread on 'glugging' noises, I checked my coolant level yesterday and it was bang on 'MIN'. I topped it up to bang on 'MAX'. Checked it again tonight after driving car round all day and level is back on 'MIN'.

Heater's working ok and there's no obvious loss of coolant. Checked under oil filler cap and dipstick and that looks healthy. Any ideas what's caused the difference in level readings? My Idea is a petrol '04 plate model with 45K on clock.

But this also involves a misfire which I don't think you have (me neither - far from it ).

I haven't checked my coolant level for a couple of weeks, but I will do this at the weekend for sure.

I was wondering if your disappearing coolant is due to a dodgy water pump. This might be causing my problem too.

Certainly the water pump gets a fair old mention elsewhere on the net for cooling system related problems.
