Ok guys I need some bright ideas on how to get my bonnet open I ve tried pulling the cable with mole grips very very hard and trust me that's as hard as its can be pulled as I am a large lad at over 6' 5” also tried having someone shaking the bonnet hard at the same time. Can you help. Many thanks.

tip the car upside down and shake it, summits bound to give :)

Is there no way you can get to it from underneath the car? behind the bumper like? Obviously keep tugging at the cable!

If all else fails, book it in for a service at fiat, turn off ya mobile and let them sort it out for ya, give them a bit of grief!

The catch mechanism looks fairly well shrouded from the front, without having the grille-trim bit off the front it might be tricky.

The trim would appear to be bolted on, too.

Anonymous, lighten up a bit fella :)

Didn't someone post the same problem a little while back?

I think it was case of somehow getting to the bonnet release from underneath the car and reaching up thru the engine bay.

ANd as for everyone being somewhat 'light-hearted', it's known that the bonnet is a complete bastard to get open if the release fails, hence the can-opener gag.

It's wrong, so very, very wrong.........

I had a look at mine with the bonnet up. I can see a small rectangle at the bottom, you cold get a rod up there and push the plunget while someone is pulling the cable,(assuming its not seized). do yo know any one with a beavo? you could open the bonnet and have a look then, Give you some idea
