Hi,

Ive just bought a Bendix Supercharger for my mk1 1.1 Punto, (y) (i know... it sounds stupid but im just having a bit of fun on a cheap small engine first...)

its easy enough for me to fit and i get how it works, only thing is i dont know whether...
1. i need to lower the compression (different gaskets etc)
2. i need it remapping/ chipping etc
3. what size pullys and belts i may need

if anyone has had any experience with any other car that could give me an idea on how to go about doing the best job possible and where to go to find parts and get work done and how to get the most miles out of it before it inevitably blows up :p

Many thanks,
Dan

The biggest snag is driving the supercharger. It needs a hefty toothed belt and it needs to run at the correct speed so the engine isnt overfed. You need to know its compression ratio per rev so you can work out its gearing.

The issue is the cam pulley isnt built to drive a blower and anyway its already driving the cam shaft. Although complicated to get right a turbo would be easier. But that's relative. Easier still is a bigger engine and with ordinary tuning techniques.
