Hi
Just been conned when i bought my GT1 turbo. having to strip ,clean, replace and rebuild **** loads on the car and the guy i bought it off me was a complete tosser. I was a fool and now have to re-shim.
This is what info i have:
clearance for timing check...... 0.80mm on both inlet and exhaust.
operational clearance............. INLET 0.40mm+- 0.05mm
EXHAUST 0.50mm+- 0.05mm
Reading between the lines i understand this as "clearance for timing check" is the clearance COLD on both INLET and EXHAUST
Whereas "operational clearance" is the clearance HOT.
So if i set the "clearance for timing check" at 0.8mm COLD, the HOT values should naturally fall in specification?
Is this correct? It seems an unusual set of figures on the COLD side but i need confirmation please.
many thanks Andy

Marvellous. Thanks. This guy was a muppet. I have all 0.8 on exhaust and a right mish mash on the inlet from 0.33 - 0.610. If so then in what manner do you ever use the 0.8 as once set at the operational figure 0.8 will be unmeasurable by definition.
