I need to top up my coolant and bought some coolant from halfords, i bought the post 98 coolant which i thought would be fine for the car as i have a 98 model however i opened it and the coolant is red/pink. Ive heard you shouldn't mix coolant. The coolant in the car is green/blue colour.

Should i have bought the pre 98 halfords coolant?

Cheers,

Coolant is coolant get the stuff that is the same colour and you can't go too far wrong it is after all water with alcohol in it to lower the freezing point, dont get drawn in by the marketing that claims you need to buy special coloured water because your car is a bit older.
If you took your car for a service it would get the same coolant as any other car they serviced

make sure the stuff you have bought doesnt say oats on it because if it does and you have the ethel stuff then it usually turns into mud in the system
