A quick question for those who know about setting mileages on new clusters.

My original speedo has 82k on the clock the one I picke dup for £20 has 119k on it (scrap yard said 90k!!!) If I have it matched (whatever it is called with examiner) to my car to stop mileage flashing. If I buy another cluster that has say 60k on it will the garage still be able to set that to my actual mileage or is that lost forever once the 119k one is set to the car?

Thanks

you can't drop the mileage of clocks but can increase, get the 60k clocks put in and then proxi-aligned

the mileage in the cluster can be programmed to any value you want - i'm from the Netherlands but i'm sure this service is available in the UK too....
Examiner and FES can't do this but there are other tools for this job.

Cheers yellowstilo, just need to find someone near Bedfordshire that will set it for me! So after garage align it to car and I go from 80k to 119k it can still be set back one day to original mileage?

that it right yellow stilo but in the uk it is illegal to drop the milage of a car (known as clocking)

I only want someone to set it to the correct amount! But I did know if got one with higher mileage that may prove impossible.

I only mentioned it is possible to program any mileage - i did not offer to drop the mileage lower than original.....
Because Examiner or FES cannot adjust the mileage downward reprogramming can be a solution when you want to fit a cluster with a higher mileage than the original one.
I don't do any clocking services, leave that kind of business to others....

In the Netherlands the mileage is registered in a database at each garage visit - when a mileage is dropped afterwards it is noticed as unlogical and possible fraud so personally i never would fit a cluster with a too high mileage in my car for a longer period.
I don't know if it works this way in the UK too ?

Yes it will be registered at next MOT, although that will look like I've done 40k in a year, I also have paper work showing it had done 82k when the breaks were done in October so it will actually look like I've done 40k in 5 months!

After looking at trade in values it doesn't seem to matter, the car is only worth £650 if it had average mileage in another year it must be worth about £400 if they want to knock £200 off for 120k miles its neither here nor there.
