Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

a bick engine would be crap as they have no torque it would hardle move but a 3.0 v6 NICE

Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

The bike engines move Caterhams, Westfields & Radicals ok.
I've also seen bike engined Minis (also in the back) and Smarts.
For a road car 3.0V6 will be easier to live with though.

Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

Retro cars a couple of months back had a fiat 500 with a cbr900 lump in it. What got me thinking was that it was mounted side on, mid rear, driving a sierra 4x4 Lsd through a BMW prop doughnut. It had custom rear wishbones with some front wheel drive hubs and cable handbrake callipers off something italian from what I can remember. 948 honda cbr lump is 148bhp straight out the wrapper, comes with a 6 speed sequential box and doesn't weigh very much. Put it into a cinq shell which weighs about the same as my washing machine and you should have a nimble quick little car.:D

youve obviously never seen a Zcars Mini:rolleyes: imagine about 600kg either RWD or FWD powered by a lightweight 180 bhp engine which revs up to 12,000 revs  with bags of torque and power and to top it off a six speed sequential gearbox (flick forward to go down and flick back to go up) and youve basically got a Z cars mini and you cant really criticise till youve seen/heard one

and there is a bloke on the miniforum using his as a daily driver and a lad on club lupo is putting a ZXR12 engine in the back of his daily driver lupo soon:worship:

back on topic:eek: ;) this is one very good project a lightweight relaively solid shell ontop of a grunty V6 motor cant be bad and if set up properly will be a beast to drive:devil: so good luck finnishing (y)

And if you have a totally stripped out FG shelled racer, you may even reach sub 3 second 0-60 times :)

Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

i know i'll be stoned for saying this
(hastily dodges the rock and boulders flying through the air!)
there has been a panda built by frogford that had the 1.6 rs turbo lump in the back.... a bit diy,but it did shift!!
so there is hope
maybe a 20v???N/A

Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

On the subject of bike engines, I know of turbo bike engines producing over 400bhp...

Can you imagine a 400bhp Cinq...!

Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

400bhp?.. Na give me ~400lbft at 1900~3200rpm. That sort of torque in a V70 leaves most performance cars having to swap cogs all the time to keep up, what that sort of torque will do in a a fluff weight 'cento I can only imagine.

Re: Mid engined V6 cinq

Alfacento - how far on is the project now? as ive just looked again at the rear picture, the rollcage seems to be connected by only one point to the subframe? Is this the case?

Or have you got bracing in there going to the front?
