But I can't see 4WD being very useful in getting it off the line (assuming someone brings a RWD Cinq).

Nope. But weight transfer is toward the back. The grass track Cinqs actually pull wheelies from a standing start. No wheels on tarmac = no drive (or brakes, or steering!)
