I managed to get a hold of supersprint manifold, but i only found out that the newer one dont fit the 1242 after i got it! So i'm stuck with a bit of a problem. One idea is to get the bottom of the manifold (where it comes to one pipe) bent slightly. There's already a bend in it, and it would need about 10 degrees more.

Is this a really stupid idea or possible?

Either that or does anyone have an older one that they would want to swap for a almost brand new one!?

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks

Jamie

if i was you mate i would sell it and try get one that fits like cause if anything goes wrong when your trying to customise it then thats a fair bit of cash down the drain. you could maybe try an exhaust garage somewhere and if they f**k it then they will pay for it.

cheers gregor

If you have a way of heating the metal up (blow torch) you could bend it yourself.. Depending on how thick the pipe is.

Just heat it up till its red, and get bending lol.

Ye if it's getting bent then i'm giving it to some professional cause i can't afford to waste it! But do you think it can be bent? It is a possible solution?

thanks

Jamie

Stainless, once heated, will be very brittle and could crack whilst bending.

Sell it and buy another one.

If you cut and shut, you will end up with an uneven flow inside the manifold. Remember, this is the most crucial part of the exhaust for performance!

I know people keep saying sell it and buy another.. a word to them; it isn't easy to find a manifold that'll fit a 1242 cento. Supersprint changed the design and have not made them for a good few years now.

The CSC manifold has a joiner section in it that can be lengthed if needed, think it was Jamie who had that done on his.

Supersprint will make the 1242 for the 8v engines but will only do so in a decent sized batch so the only way to source one new would be a group buy or to convince a retailer to buy a bulk of them!!!

can always buy one for a punto the only difference been the end of it which will make no difference when it comes to fitting

I'm confused - if it is the 1242 8v Manifold we are talking about, to go on a 1242 8v engine then the Supersprint one is not for sale anywhere that I could find?

I'm a self confessed ebay fiend and i've not seen many manifold that would fit the 1242 at all. I got the supersprint second hand and can't aford a new one. I suppose i could sell it again but i got excited about a new manifold and now i want one! I'm going to take it to an exhaust place on friday hopefully and see what they say. lets hope they can do it!

Unless there's still anyone with an old supersprint on a 1108 that wants to swap??? (y)

Thanks

Jamie

Took it to an exhaust garage on Friday and he said the single pipe bit is too short to bend and he can't bend the part where there is 2 pipes cause it wouldn't fit in his machine.

He suggested taking it to an engineering shop and using a press to bend it, but i'm not really willing to take that risk as it might wreck the whole thing.

So i'm selling it again/swaping it for one that fits!

Thanks

Jamie

Cut it where? At the 4 or 2 pipe bit? I thought that would be a bit dodgy to get it good?

Thanks

Jamie
