well...hello to everyone! i ve got a tjet...here in greece these are more popular than mjets. Mjet accelerates like any other diesel, which means not for long. Both have the same acceleration but tjet keeps accelerating for longer, so if you put them side to side...you know TJET RULES!!!:slayer:

Weight is the big factor, my Mjet was the same in a straight line as my ST, yet the ST is 174bhp and the GP was pushing 189bhp.
Theres not enough cornering fun in the diesel, the ST isn't as good mpg as thr Mjet but at the moment its worth it in smiles per gallon (spg), it handles like its on rails, annihilates my mjet round bends (or any t-jet for that matter) completely and utterly.
The diesel serves its purpose well, but the petrol is so much more fun.

Its just a point of getting used to the fact that diesels are better than petrols now. I used to be a total petrol head and used to hate stinking diesels but that just isnt simply the case anymore.
Look at the new diesel touring cars, demolishing everything.
Le-mans will never be won by a petrol car again.
The facts are simple.
Diesels are better than petrols now.
Way better economy.
Im sorry, but way faster.
I know you will bring up the fact that your T-jet handles better but frankly my mjet handles well and im totally confident that on any given road ill beat you overall because what i gain in the straights is way more than what i would lose in the corners!!

I couldn't agree with you more Kris, BUT I cannot bring myself to like the ST or any other FORD for that matter. I am entitled to a Voucher in FORD as well, could have had a brand new Fiesta ST in Frozen white for £9000. I just cannot visually enjoy the car i'm afraid. Maybe the new styles they are bringing out will sway me.
Unless its one of the new BMW engines, i'm afraid diesels are not better than petrol. And the 1.4 T-jet engine is superb, really shocked me actually.
Im afriad your going to back that up with some evidence??? Ive told you why diesels are better than petrol, you tell me why the oposite is true?
Maybe a standard Mjet vs Standard Tjet pretty close.
But a Remapped Mjet will blow the Tjet away AND get twice the mpg whislt doing it!! hahah its not even a contest!
To say 'diesels are faster' is a bit of a broad comment. Its like saying 'vauxhalls are faster' or 'renaults are faster'. certain spec diesels are quicker than the euquivalent model petrol and vise versa. I just depends whta you buy. Diesels are on par straight line with petrols now, manufacturers are bringing out equivalent models in different fuels.
Diesels do their job well, they perform stright line just as well and use less fuel.
But I ask you this: If you could choose between a petrol car and an equivalent diesel variant with the same performance and money/mileage was not an object, which one would you choose? I know which I would...
I know exactly what you mean, when I bought the ST, I didn't want one in any other colour or style, I wanted white with white wheels. Because imo the othe colour STs look gash, next time a silver on passes you I bet you don't even notice... unless you look at the badge.
Some good points, and in reply to your question. Its a silly question because this is the real world and money/mileage IS an issue. But Ill answer it anyway.
I would still go for the Mjet because after a £200 remap my car is now blisteringly quick, to get a Tjet that fast would cost thousands.
If you want to keep going down the fantasy road and lets say a remap is not an option. I would still go for a diesel because it will last much longer (its likely) than its petrol cousin.
If you want to KEEP going down fantasy land and say that thats not an issue then yeah i would propbably go for the Tjet but thats only after you have illiminated all the positives of the Mjet.
e.g. MPG, Speed, Remap, Longlife.
Take them out and obviously i would go for the Tjet but its not really a fair contest if you cut someones limbs off and then ask them to fight.

and again we come to the conclusion that diesels are better for certain things and petrols are better for others, straight line speed only counts for so much, but the REAL fun and test of a car lies in the cornering.
Also if you're talking about remaps etc then your straying onto another topic... Tuneability.
Petrols in general will always outperform diesels overall, you also say diesels last longer which is true, but bear in mind they are more expensive to buy in the first place
btw, I think you're going a bit far when you say that your GP is 'blisteringly quick' Its warm hatch territory at best.

but i do miss the nice sound my stilo (petrol).... saying that at the nurburgring this year the GPS suprized most of the abarth (2.4ltr) owners being able to keep with them no worries and take alot of them around the ring? But then the arguemnt of weight to power ratio and the added torque of the diesel pulls up those hills/verges easier

I agree with Kris here. Without remap and if fuel prices weren't an issue, then I would choose the petrol over the diesel every time. The ability to remap the MJet to 170bhp+ combined with 50+ mpg were the only reasons I even considered getting a GP, as anything else would be too slow.
I've also never liked Fiesta ST's, but I'm seriously considering cancelling my MJet order and just buying a decent 2nd hand ST which shocked me. You wouldn't like it though as I was thinking red

I should hope it kept with the stilo abarths, they're only 170bhp aren't they? which is a bit toss for a 2.4 imo!
The ST is only in a different league now because of the performance mods, it sells for the same as an Mjet etc.

Agree completely, the fact that the GP was remappable to 170bhp and that it was good on fuel was pretty much the main reason for buying it!

All depends on the needs of the driver at the end of the day. My GP served its purpose well, but I just love the sound of my ST, its awesome.

My MJet is perfect for ME. Mostly Motorway miles (no corners) and easy, effortless grunt with economy (and that IS a big deal guys) makes the MJet a perfect choice for me, especially for the 9.5 grand I got it for 19 months ago I couldnt get comfy in a wee Fiesta but Kris can lol! 36000 miles makes a diesel the ONLY choice for me.
P.S. I bought my youngest a 1.4 Ibiza Chill for 2 grand-'ish, 55k on the clock, cambelt done, needs a service but I'll do that. Anyone anything good or bad to say bout Bezzas for 18 year olds?

Haha I met Kris AT Red Dot, he knows the MJet as well or better than anyone Beany TBH! He can fit in any tiny car lmao! I need every single horse I got pullin my GPS!
