Hi all. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or had any ideas...

I have a 1.9 150 sport and for a good few months now have had problem with lumpy power. When I say lumpy I mean when I accelerate hard from around 2000rpm the car will accelerate and you can feel the turbo kick in. Then between 2200 to 2750 it will almost die then surge again after that.

I can't seem to find any pattern to it. My warranty is running out at the end of next month so was going to see if I can get it sorted!

I forgot to mention it's had a new egr and maf sensor. The garage thought that would sort the problem but it's still going.

Hi, :)
had ANY warning lights / error messages..??,

Thanks both for the reply.

I am going to get the timing belt changed soon. I got the car with patchy history and it's done 58000 miles and 7 year's old. Not sure if it has been changed or not.
varesecrazy. No engine management lights unfortunately.

VERY wise to get the belt set done, (y)
diesels run such tight valve timing, you're unikely to be out of time, and still running;)

BUT you CAN get some useful timing . pressures, etc - info via plugging in to OBD socket,:)

Recently my MJET had an issue where all searches etc pointed to EGR being dead but it was the timing being slightly out. Once it started it would idle fine but on acceleration was when the problems really came to light and it was quick to go into limp mode. I had no errors until a few days after it started which was when I got Fiat to sort it out. Car is happy once again. ?

Thanks both. Might get a quote from fiat and my usual independent. But definitely needs doing soon. It used to go into limp mode but it hasn't done it in a month.

Booked in the garage for timing belt and water pump on Thursday. It needs doing anyway but not sure it's the cause of the problem. Driving it on the motorway today when accelerating it was like there was a turbo switch being flicked repeatedly between on and off!

Timing belt done... Drives better but still has the odd power thing every now and again
