I’m pleased to say the least.
But according to parts suppliers the Hella is a correct and straight swap alternator. It’s a dead end to convince them otherwise. Not sure either if its incorrect and high resistance is like that when new - it might have broken down at some point. Who knows. But the talk on German forums suggests it’s the wrong alternator for our cars for sure. I can’t help feeling sorry for the struggles previous owner must have experienced going to and from the Fiat dealer not receiving any qualified help. Shame.
Anyhow,the car is now fixed and hopefully stays that way for a long time

Power steering and all other electrics is in fine form and it's become a very nice daily driver.
