General Lowering Mk1

Hi guys,
Ive had a search of the forum but couldnt find any info on this.

With lowering cars, is it possible to do it with just lowering springs or is a full shock kit needed if replacing stock?
So e.g. my suspension is stock, if i want it lowering can i do it with just springs?

Lowering had never been something ive looked into until recently and its just confusing me..
Any help will be apreciated..

Depends on how much you want to lower it. In my opinion, anything up to 40mm and you would get away with just using lowering springs on their own. Any lower than that then you would be best with a full suspension kit. If you can afford the full kit regardless of how much you want to drop the car then go for it, it'll work out better for you in the long run

Any idea as to where to get decent kit?
Im not looking for value, more something thats going to give me a smoother / cleaner ride?
