Right, so i lowered my stilo last week by 40mm, the back has dropped quite nicely, the wheel is sitting flush with the arch which is exactly what i wanted, but the front seems to have stayed the same, if not gone slightly higher! If it has it's only very slightly, but it hasn't dropped thats for sure :( Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before or knows anything about it? I've been told that my original springs may have been that old that they went really soft so when i put lowering springs on it stays about the same hight, but not sure, also i've been told that they can have a "breaking in" period, and it should gradually drop after abit of driving around, but it's been over a week now and no change :(

Here are some pictures of it before it was lowered

Something wrong there. Yes, springs will settle a little, but not that much. I supect they have supplied you with springs meant for another model with a heavier engine.

Most companies are supplying springs universal to 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8. This should give a max drop of 40mm on the much heavier 1.8. It will barely touch 1.2 and 1.4 and maybe a slight difference in 1.6.
I think the eibachs are commonly seeing the best results on smaller engines. I could be wrong though.

Do indeed think there's something wrong there. I fitted Eibach Sportlines on my 1.2, which give a 50/30mm drop front/rear. Mine went from...

...to...

...afterward.

I'd check the packaging or if you can part numbers from supplied lowering springs to check they're not for the Abarth or Diesel. Did you have a chance to look at the new springs side by side with the old ones - check if there was a noticeable difference in overall length?

From what I've seen, the Eibach Pro-kit, which is a 30mm drop, barely changes the overall look on the lighter engined cars. That's one of the reasons I went for the Sportlines. That and I figured it'd help the inherent Stilo suspension roll a lot more, which it did.

Yeah I Googled the product code and it definitely is the 40mm springs for a petrol, I have a 1.6 and yeah I did put them side by side and there was a difference in height, its just odd that it hasn't made a difference, the back has gone down as you can see from the photos, just really not sure what to do from here

Haha well I live out in the sticks so my journey home is quite bumpy down the lanes, so if you nail it abit you get some good flex in the springs, and I've tried the speed bumps, obviously not ramming it into them ;) lol, but tried it all to "break them in" also standing on the door sills and having a good old bounce with my mates :) but still had no result :(

Classic case of shoulda gone for coilovers, its the only way to lower the car properly. the spring may be 40mm shorter when off the car but is in fact wound from a thicker strand therefore doesnt give a drop, just reduced roll

changed a few suspensions in the past

1.2's and 1.6's coils and springs... never seen this before?

Even if you are waiting for the springs to settle you would still notice some form of change in the ride hight. I hate to ask but have you managed to put them on back to front lol???
I take it you did fit yourself? It just looks very high on the front and v low on the back for a 40mm drop

I have just looked for my best example of 50/35 on a 1.2

This car was like muppet42's first pic before i put springs on and noticed a difference soon as i put it on the deck even before wearing in the springs.

However saying that this pic looks high to me now. Your best bet would be to get coilovers if you really wanted a tucked effect on the front. The main question is if you want the ride quality with it. I really didnt care and didnt listen to anyone but myself on this matter and its the best thing i ever did. (y)

Other issue is Cost, i wouldnt say it was a major issue as mine were AP's @ £490 but you can also get a really decent set for around £250. Fitted these to Matts car on here and he hasnt had any problems at all?

Seen as though you have bought the springs i would suggest just getting the adjustable struts for the front. (can@t be to much £££) I think i have the rear adjustable plates but you wouldnt want to fit them anyway. Even Coyle removed his and he was running lower than me.

Don't bother with speed bump comments or pot holes people! We all live in the same CRAP country with the same crap roads... I haven't had any issues :)

Yeahh coilovers would have been a nice option, but due to the price i'll have to give it a miss right now :( money is quite tight,, but i would have thought it would have dropped it atleast abit lol

yeah i see what you mean..

but if you decide to keep as the car is until funds are present. front "adjustable shocks" for STilo i guess would come in around £145 your already have the springs!

I rememeber when i was getting mine a few years back i spent 2months living off my missus hahahaha and again with the wheels. But i am a clown like that.

love the front bumper though pal. I was looking at that before deciding to keep OEM

Didn't see your post Ged20D when i replied a second ago, yeah i fit them myself, with assistance of a trained mechanic lol, who is my mate, and we did the front one at a time, so we could compare them to see if we fitted them properly, and all was good, and they do say on the springs front and rear, and from just even looking at the new and old springs side by side you can tell which are the back and which are the front lol :p i mean, the back is just how i wanted it, but the front is ridiculous haha, and yeah i am doing it for the look and handling, altough say that there is some reduction in body roll i have noticed but not alot, i am tempted to take them apart and refit them, just to see, but doubt it would make any difference :(

Yeahh, well if i can get this sorted ill be happy, if not i will just get some coilovers...eventually :p i got lucky with my wheels, £90 from Derby, just....well, sort of just down the road from me, they were in mint condition too! i had them resprayed to the colour i wanted anyways though, and then put some tyres on them :) and thanks about the bumper, i wanted a different one but they stopped stock it so that was my second choice (y)

lol back to front was more of a joke but you got that anyway :) How about upside down? :p ;)

taking apart is always a way to go. When changing matts when we lowered his rear back down we all looked at each other as the hight didnt look right. Turns out it was the jack on the otherside though.. hummm

well i do hope you get it sorted mate and let us know if you find the floor.

Work at 8 tomorrow and i want an Audi A4 so best be off lol

haha yeah knew you said it as a joke (y) but there is always that SLIM chance that you could put them on the other way around :p and i took the speed bump one with a pinch of salt too, although i did try and break them in abit by what i said about going down the lanes and all that  yeah next week on my day off i might give it a go at reassembling them :)

Hi i have same problem what u got and what did u do? Thanks
