Hi Guys,

I know that there are many posts relating to Low Oil Pressure warning messages on the dashboard. Since getting the car new I have been having to top the oil level up by about a litre in between services due to the above warning message when going around a sharp corner.

Before Christmas I started getting the Low Oil Pressure warning message again but this time when I checked my oil it was very low, in fact 3 litre's of oil were needed to bring the oil to the max level on the dip stick.

The car is not leaking oil and there are no signs of the car burning oil. The car has always been services at the main dealers since new with the exception of this year as I decided to service the car myself. Now the only plausible explanation that I can think of is that the last time the car was serviced the main dealer failed to put sufficient oil into the car but of course I can not prove this.

Now one thing that I found strange was that when I removed the old genuine oil filter, there did not appear to be any oil in the filter itself is this normal ?

Every screw on oil filter I've ever removed has had oil pouring out of it as soon as it's loosened, but the lack of oil in yours doesn't explain the loss of oil.

If there's no leaks and no signs of it burning oil, only explaination would be that it was under filled at last service.

Dave.
