General Loose Gearstick

Has anyone started to get a loose gearstick. The top part where the chrome meets the black plastic has started to rattle and feel quite loose. Is there anyway to tighten this up or as its plastic it will wear where it meets the metal shaft of the gear lever ?

I'd say maybe one of the clips in stage 1 has broken? Warranty job.

The 10mm bolt under the cap will have worked loose. A simple job to re-tighten (with a drop of Loc-tite), but often the cap is difficult to remove and can break the locating lugs (especially as Fiat use a small amount of bonding glue to hold the cap down).

If it's under warranty, then go to your Dealer.

Thanks for the replies, its now made me wonder about fitting a leather gearknob, especially as its highly likely that the topcap will break if i try and do it myself. Of course, if the dealership make a hash of it, then I suppose I could coerce them into fitting the leather one...

supprised I didn't get that many knob.leather.stick comments....

The dealers won't fit a leather one unless you pay full price for it. With Fiat it's strictly like for like when it comes to warranty repairs.
