Hey everyone new to these forums...well I have been lurking around for a few days but first time posting :)
Looking to buy a Fiat Stilo and thought I would ask more experienced members before I went ahead. At the minute I am sharing my dads '05 focus with him but have never liked it. It is a great car to drive, 1.6 TDCi so not too slow or anything (not that I am a boy racer either) but as I'm sure you will appreciate you would never be able to love a car unless it was truly yours!
I am currently in Uni but last year I stayed in student housing this year looking to travel hence looking to buy my own car! Anyway enough background on me...

Really love the Bright blue 3dr Stilo, (have seen it be called polar blue?), and I want it in diesel so 1.9 JTD engine for bit of power don't mind if it is 115-150 BHP as I would look to get it remapped somewhere down the line and trim level doesn't matter too much. I live in NI and haven't seen one of these for weeks. There are plenty in mainland England on gumtree, I found one that albeit needed some work but was only £750!

Only have came across two in my neck of the woods;

One was £1750 but it is petrol :(
Then found this one but it was too late, guy on phone said it was sold for something like £3950 which is a bit much for me if I am honest. At that price I could buy a focus or golf! (Sorry if that offends anyone lol)

*Sorry had to remove links as I need 5 posts before I can put them in*

Apart from price the car was perfect for me,low mileage and everything seems to have been kept very well.

What I want to know is before I buy a Stilo is there any year in particular that would be best? I would probably only want to go to £2000 so would I be limited to 2002/2003? And also I seen alot of people saying they have loads of extra techie stuff in theirs but this isn't the same for everyone so is their that big a difference to the trim levels?
I can't wait to get one, ideally looking for one with low mileage and been kept good is there anything I should look out for in particular and am I being too demanding for my £2k?

Thanks for any replies and sorry if I rattled on lol :)

Oh yeah the one that was near £4000 had done 46,000 miles, was 2005 and had brand new 17'' alloys and tyres fitted just in case anyone was wondering. BTW does that sound right? I think they are more expensive in NI than mainland :(

Cheers mate I have done already, spent alot of time on these forums yesterday reading up old threads ;)
What I want to know the most is about the year and trim I should try and get or expect to get for under £2000. If you go onto www (dot) getthecaryouwant (dot) com and search for a fiat stilo you will see the second one I was talking about.
Thanks again for reply though!

The one on getwhatcaryouwant or gumtree and were you selling or buying rob?
Yeah I try every website I know every day mate lol
Anyone got any pointers for me on what model to buy?

*Edit* After looking at your old threads you must be selling and no don't think I have seen yours which means there maybe is some place I am not looking! Where you from mate?

Oh right lol sorry was confused there! Haven't seen any actually don't live in Antrim town but am there often so will now be keeping a close eye out for you!

Welcome to the forum and good choice on looking for a jtd. they are dirt cheap to run yet go well too, especially with a remap. i dont think you will get a 150 and agree that for your budget an 02/03 is on the cards. The specs changed on 03 cars, my 03 Dynamic doesn't have traction control but has a rear spoiler. you might find one that has an options pack fitted.

best thing is probably to keep looking on auto trader. its where i found my jet blue jtd with skyroof for £2295 last year.

So out of the 02 and 03 which would be better? And what sort of stuff should I look for them to have?
Also question like asking how long is a piece of rope but in general what sort of mileage should I expect to find? Cheers.

What is better about 04 onwards compared to 02/03 I thought they started taking stuff out of the later models? I wouldn't mind taking a car that had been damaged but that one has a fair few miles on it and I live in NI.

Its very difficult to pick up a 3door stilo in northern ireland i had been on the hunt for one for a few months. I also fell in love with the bright blue colour the first one i seen for sale was gone in a few hours. I picked my car up in cullybackey and the only other blue one ive seen was also in cullybackey. I doubt you will get a blue one but i think the silver ones are very nice if you can find one. Theres a nice abarth for sale on auto trader but i doubt you could fuel or insure it. The abarths are actually alot cheaper than jtd's cause people cant afford to run them.

Silly question. I have assumed that you can buy a car from England/Scotland and take it over to NI. Can you?

I would have to say one can, as I have done the opposite. I got my stilo from NI, Co. Antrim in fact. You do have to change V5 styles from NI to "England, Wales, Scotland" or reversed depending on the situation (and that really p*ssed me off, NI is part of the UK/GB what ever you call it so why make a different style V5) sorry - rant over.

So if I got a NI car and brought it to "mainland UK" I'm sure the opposite can be done. (y)
