Where did you get them from? I've got a german workshop manual in PDF format but its German. LOL.

Is it the ones you can buy off Ebay? If anyone wants to make it freely available i can make it into a torrent and you can all download it from me. :)

i also have the one in german, thought i had it in spanish but guess not.

downloaded it.

Wow, that's what I call a good explanation.

So I could block it somewhere between #1 and #5? Or between #3 and #1?

And (I can't resist localization :), hvala!)

Ok, thank you, I'll try.
Did you use some kind of sealant around metal plate, it should be air proof if I am not mistaken?

Hi

I disconnected the wires going to the solenoid on the EGR valve. Well, for now, (took it for a 20km run on the highway) there wasn't any problems. Also took it to redline, no smoke at all, but it kind of lost some of it's power from 3000-. Not noticeable for a co-driver, but I did feel it. Is this normal?

Did some more research on this type of valve (electrical), and found that at cruise speeds, it sort of open and close rapidly (pulsates). That could explain "smoke/no smoke/smoke" behaviour when I was driving in 5th gear. But then again, I maybe wrong big time.

I decided to leave it disconnected for a few days and just see what happens. And I think that engine sounds a bit different, not sure.

Sven, when did you block your valve? You did not have any side-effects?

Please don't get me wrong, but "Don't disable EGR valve, it will ruin your engine" is just similar to using very odd bits (kind of 5-way torex with a hole) to screw the MAF sensor in. Why use those? Because you are not to clean it and save 200 EUR, that's why. I can't remember of any other reason. But again, I maybe wrong.

So, if black smoke doesn't appear again in a few days, I'll try to clean the damn thing (altough garage already cleaned it).

No sideefects here, and my EGR is held with 2x 6mm imbuses and 2x 8mm six bolt heat screws. The other thing is, I got advised to turn it off, because its f***** either way, so its the same as blocked

Thanks again Sven.

Still no symptoms of black smoke, also noticed more power in low revs. I am not going to connect it again.

Is there a chance that ECU could notice that EGR does not open at all? And therefore go to the "limp mode"?

Nope, it will keep the fault code in, but wont do nothing to the engine performance. The code will apear if you take a diagnostic check
